Korea Masters: Anmol bows out; Tanvi prevails into QFs

India's Anmol Kharb's Korea Masters campaign came to an end in the pre-quarterfinals after a hard-fought loss to Olympian Vu Thi Trang of Vietnam here on Thursday.
Anmol suffered a 23-21, 15-21, 21-18 loss against an Olympian here at Asan Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium on Thursday.
The Indian shuttle was in control for much of the opening game but squandered four game points, gifting Vu Thị Trang an opportunity to take the early advantage. Anmol then responded strongly in the second game by capitalising on her 11-9 lead at the interval to force a decider.
In the decider, the Indian found herself trailing 19-9 before mounting a late surge with eight consecutive points. However, it was a little too late for a comeback as Vu Thi Trang closed out the match and moved into the next round.
Elsewhere, fresh off her title triumph at Taipei Open, Tanvi Sharma continued her impressive run by defeating her compatriot Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-16, 17-21, 21-13.
After falling behind 11-7 in the first game, Tanvi wrested back control, reeling off a string of points to take the opener. Shriyanshi Valishetty bounced back in the second game, racing to an 11-6 lead at the interval, before sealing the second game to force a decider.
The deciding game, however, saw Tanvi in control from the outset as she edged into an 11-9 lead at the interval before pulling away decisively, conceding just four more points en route to sealing victory in 57 minutes.
Moreover, Ashmita Chaliha and Rakshitha Ramraj also joined Tanvi Sharma in the women's singles quarter-finals.
Ashmita beat home favourite Kim Min-ji 21-17, 21-6, while Rakshitha defeated Japan's Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10. However, fifth seed Isharani Baruah's and Mansi Singh's Korea Masters campaign came to an end.
Isharani lost 17-21, 21-18, 21-19 against Kim Min-sun of Korea, while Mansi suffered a 21-12, 14-21, 21-17 defeat against fourth seed Han Qianxi of China.

So happy to see Ashmita and Rakshitha also progressing! The depth in Indian women's badminton is genuinely impressive now. Last year we had just one or two players in these quarterfinals, now we have three. The bench strength building is real. 👏
Anmol needs to work on closing out games. She had four game points in the first set and let them slip. This is a pattern we see with young players. The talent is there, but the mental toughness at crucial moments needs improvement. Hope the coaches are working on this.
Tanvi winning the Taipei Open and now cruising here is amazing! 57 minutes for that match, and she controlled the decider beautifully. This is how champions are made - consistency. Also great to see the young players not afraid of the international stage anymore. More medals coming for India! 🏸
Very encouraging signs for Indian badminton. Three women in the quarterfinals of a Super 300 event is no small feat. The domestic circuit and coaching setup are clearly producing results. Anmol's loss was heartbreaking though - those 8 straight points in the decider show she has the fight in her. She'll learn from this.
While I'm happy for Tanvi, Ashmita and Rakshitha, I feel bad for Isharani and Mansi. So close in those third games! 21-19 and 21-17 - just a couple of points difference. But that's the level of international badminton now, margins are tiny. The experience will help them grow
