Kolkata, April 2
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane failed to make a mark in his 200th Indian Premier League appearance, scoring just eight runs for his side in a tough run-chase on Thursday.
Rahane became the 11th player to complete 200 IPL appearances during his side's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), but had a disappointing night with the bat, scoring a 10-ball eight before perishing to Jayden Unadkat to an absolute nothing shot.
Rahane is the ninth-highest run-getter in the tournament history, with 5,107 runs in 185 innings at an average of 30.58, with a strike rate of 125.32, with two centuries and 34 fifties and a best score of 105*.
The veteran batter has scored 598 runs in 22 matches and 21 innings at an average of 29.90 and a strike rate of over 135, with four fifties. His best score is 67.
Coming to the match, KKR opted to bowl first. The first wicket stand between Travis Head (46 in 21 balls, with six fours and three sixes) and Abhishek (48 in 21 balls, with four boundaries and four sixes) started things for SRH, from where they slipped to 118/4.
Heinrich Klaasen (52 in 35 balls, with four boundaries and a six) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (39 in 24 balls, with four boundaries and a six) put on an 82-run stand for the fifth wicket and took SRH to 226/8 in 20 overs.
Blessing Muzarabani (4/41) was the pick of the bowlers for KKR, while Vaibhav Arora (2/47), Kartik Tyagi (1/48) and Anukul Roy (1/16) were also among the wickets.
