Kedarnath reconstruction work progressing rapidly; district administration closely monitoring projects

Reconstruction and development works under the Kedarnath Redevelopment Project are progressing rapidly, with the district administration closely monitoring all ongoing projects to ensure their timely completion, said officials.
Speaking to ANI, District Magistrate Vishal Mishra informed that several key infrastructure projects have already been completed, while multiple other works worth crores of rupees are currently underway.
Major completed projects include the Aastha Path, two bridges, the Saraswati River Ghat, the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi Sthal, the protective wall behind the Kedarnath Temple, the hospital building, the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and police quarters.
Meanwhile, the construction of Shiv Udyan, accommodation for Tirth Purohits (temple priests), sewer lines, water supply lines, and several other development works is underway.
On the old trekking route, excavation, railing installation, and stone-setting work have been completed on a 5.35-km-long and 1.80-metre-wide stretch between Rambara and Garud Chatti. Reconstruction of the remaining approximately 3-km stretch is still underway.
Around Rs 5.25 crore has been sanctioned for the reconstruction of this trekking route. At present, various development and reconstruction projects worth nearly Rs 15 crore are being executed in the Kedarnath area.
Once the ongoing works are completed, pilgrims are expected to benefit from improved infrastructure, enhanced facilities, and a safer pilgrimage experience. The district administration said special emphasis is being placed on maintaining quality standards while ensuring the projects are completed within the stipulated timeline.

Good to see development works but Rs 15 crore for just this area? Hope the money is spent transparently and not wasted on unnecessary things. Real need is better sanitation and clean water facilities for the lakhs of pilgrims who come every year. Basic amenities matter more than fancy gardens.
The 2013 floods were devastating and it's heartening to see how much infrastructure has been rebuilt. The new protective wall behind the temple is crucial. But authorities should also focus on early warning systems and evacuation plans - nature in the Himalayas is unpredictable and we can't be too careful.
Kudos to DM Vishal Mishra and the team! Kedar is not just a temple, it's our faith. Better connectivity and facilities will help more devotees visit. Just please ensure the construction doesn't disturb the natural beauty of the area - that's what makes Kedarnath so special. 🌄
Work is happening but for an average pilgrim like me, the cost of going to Kedarnath has doubled in last 2-3 years. Infrastructure is nice, but what about affordable accommodation and food for common people? Not everyone can afford the fancy guesthouses. Hope the new Tirth Purohit accommodation doesn't mean higher prices for their services.
As someone who lost a family member in the 2013 floods, these reconstruction updates bring mixed feelings. Happy for the progress but also aware of what we lost. The government should also consider more helipads and emergency medical services for the route. Safety first, always. 🙏
