I remember watching Refugee in the theatre as a kid! Abhishek and Kareena had such raw chemistry. Even though it didn't do well commercially, it's one of those films that stays with you. JP Dutta's vision was so realistic about the border life.
Nice nostalgia but honestly, Kareena has come such a long way! From refugee roles to playing complex characters in Udta Punjab, Crew, and now Daayra. The growth is phenomenal. Can't believe it's been 26 years already! 😱
That movie's soundtrack is timeless! 'Panchhi Nadiyan Pawan Ke Jhonke' is pure poetry. And Kareena's Nazneen was so innocent and beautiful. But let's be real - the movie was ahead of its time. The partition backdrop was handled with such sensitivity. 👏
Having just recently watched Refugee on OTT, I can say it's a hidden gem. The cinematography of the Rann of Kutch is breathtaking. Kareena and Abhishek both delivered powerful performances for debutants. Shame it didn't get the box office love it deserved.
26 years! That's wild. I miss this era of Bollywood when movies had such meaningful stories about real issues. Not saying today's films are bad, but Refugee had that soulful quality. And that iconic brown shawl look of Kareena? Still remember it! ✨
