Karan Deol reveals if Sunny Deol ever hit him growing up

Actor Karan Deol had the audience giggling during the Ahmedabad promotions of his upcoming film Batwara 1947 after he shared a candid response about growing up with his superstar father Sunny Deol.
Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Karan Deol were interacting with a live audience during the promotional event when Preity playfully asked Karan, "Kabhi papa se pitai hui hai ghar mein?" (Has your father ever beaten you at home?)
In the same breathe, Karan replied, "Pitai to kabhi nahi hui, bas ishara hi kaafi hota tha." (I was never beaten, but just a look from him was enough)
His one-line response left the audience laughing, while Sunny and Preity also giggled.
Talking about Batwara 1947, the movie directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947.
The period drama explores the human lives and trauma during Partition through themes of displacement, compassion. The film stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh.
The trailer that was unveiled a few days ago has generated strong buzz ahead of the film's release, and has received great response from the audiences and critics alike.
The film also marks Preity Zinta's return to the big screen with a big bsnngwr after an eight-year break.
Batwara 1947 reunites Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta on screen after many years. The duo has previously worked together in films such as The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Heroes and Bhaiaji Superhit.
Off screen too, Preity shares a warm bond with the Deol family. Over the years, she has frequently been regarded as one of Bobby Deol's closest friends in the industry. The two have shared screen space in films including Soldier, Hum To Mohabbat Karega, Jurm and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
Talking about Karan, who made his acting debut with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, is Sunny Deol's elder son. Sunny and wife Pooja Deol are also parents to Rajveer Deol, who made his Bollywood debut with Dono in 2023.

I love how Sunny Deol just stood there smiling while his son revealed this tidbit. It shows the respect and love between them. Also, so refreshing to see Bollywood kids speak about their parents with such warmth instead of the usual rehearsed PR answers. This actually makes me want to watch Batwara 1947, especially since it's from Aamir Khan Productions — that man rarely picks a bad script!
That's actually a very wholesome answer. Growing up with a Bollywood action star father who could probably break someone in half with his bare hands — yeah, just a look would be more than enough! 😂 Interesting to see how Indian families handle discipline differently. This Partition drama sounds heavy though, hope they do justice to such a sensitive topic.
Sunny Deol's "ghayal" style stare would definitely be intimidating to any kid! 😅 But jokes aside, I'm genuinely excited about Batwara 1947. We need more films that educate the current generation about Partition — the trauma, the displacement and what it meant for millions of families. The fact that Shabana Azmi is part of the cast is a guarantee of quality. Also, nice to see Preity Zinta back!
