Kamma Global Federation to host mega Kamma Mahanadu in Sriperumbudur, TN, on Feb 8, 2026, aiming to unite the global community.

"Our focus is on safeguarding our presence, recognising our contributions, and preparing the next generation for leadership roles. - Jetti Kusuma Kumar"

Sriperumbudur, January 30

The Kamma Global Federation today announced Kamma Mahanadu, a mega gathering, scheduled to be held on February 8, 2026, at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.

The announcement was made by Jetti Kusuma Kumar, Founder and President of KGF, and senior leaders of the Federation at the Press Club of India in New Delhi.

KGF was formed with the purpose of uniting Kamma communities across the world, rebuilding cultural connections, protecting our identity, and giving the community the rightful representation and strength it deserves. Established last year, KGF began its journey with a strong vision, and the response has been extraordinary.

The global Kamma fraternity has shown immense enthusiasm, showing that our community is ready to come together like never before. Now, the Federation represents a community of nearly 2.1 crore people worldwide, accounting for about 1.5% of India's population today.

Addressing the august gathering, Jetti Kusuma Kumar said that the rapid social and political changes sweeping across the country make organised participation increasingly important. "Across the country, communities are finding ways to protect their interests and ensure continuity. Our focus is on safeguarding our presence, recognising our contributions, and preparing the next generation for leadership roles," he added.

Tamil Nadu, the host for the Mahanadu, is home to the largest Kammavar population in India, estimated at 65 lakhs. The state has produced many eminent community figures, such as Bollineni Munuswami Naidu, G.D. Naidu, Narayana Swami Naidu, Arkat Veera Swami Naidu, and Vaiko, who have made significant contributions in different fields such as agriculture, public life, innovation, and social reform. The region also has a strong historical legacy of leaders and dynasties, including Virapandya Katta Brahman, Tirumala Naikar, Mangamma, and the Ravella and Pemmasani dynasties.

On the issue of political representation, Kusuma Kumar noted that although Bollineni Munuswami Naidu, the first Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency, hailed from the Kamma community, its political presence in Tamil Nadu has declined over the decades. "One of the long-term objectives of this Mahanadu is to enable the representation of at least 30 Kamma MLAs across political parties in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and to work towards securing a Deputy Chief Minister post in future governments," he added.

The announcement also referred to the World Kamma Summit, held in Hyderabad last year, marking KGF's first international conference, which drew thousands of delegates from multiple Indian states and foreign shores. Building on this organisational momentum, the upcoming Kamma Mahanadu at Sriperumbudur is expected to exchange views on ways to strengthen the future of the Kamma community.

Kamma Global Federation stands as a beacon of unity and a catalyst for empowerment, beckoning all Kammas, Kammanaidus, and Chowdary, irrespective of their geographical borders, to step into a shared space of cultural pride, professional excellence, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility.

The KGF is not just an organisation, it's a movement. It's about harnessing the collective potential of the Kamma community across the world to create a brighter future for all. The KGF has been initiated to recognise the evolving needs of our community and to foster unity and provide comprehensive support for the holistic development of present and future generations of Kamma community members.

Interesting read. As an outsider, I find the focus on diaspora engagement and global networking impressive. The scale of 2.1 crore people is massive. Hope the event fosters positive community development.

While community pride is important, the explicit political goals (30 MLAs, Deputy CM post) make me a bit uneasy. In Tamil Nadu's complex political landscape, shouldn't development be the primary focus over community-based reservation of posts?

Great initiative! Connecting the global diaspora with roots in Tamil Nadu is a powerful idea. The historical figures mentioned, like G.D. Naidu, are an inspiration. More power to such efforts for cultural continuity.

Sriperumbudur is a great choice, given the community's strong presence there. Hoping the Mahanadu leads to concrete plans for youth skill development and entrepreneurship, not just political talk. The future needs job creators.
