Gir Somnath, May 11

Crowds gathered in Gir Somnath on Monday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled through the district in a roadshow en route to the Somnath Temple, with supporters lining the route and several displays prepared to welcome him.

Among those present was a supporter known locally as 'Junior Bachchan', Pinakin Gohil from Bhavnagar, who attracted attention by carrying a large decorative replica of the Somnath Temple during the procession.

Gohil, who works in the entertainment field, came along the roadshow route as the Prime Minister travelled towards the temple complex.

The replica he carried included several symbolic elements. It depicted Prime Minister Modi alongside his late mother Heeraba and incorporated imagery of the Statue of Unity associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

It also featured references to Hamirji Gohil, historically linked in regional accounts to the defence of Somnath.

Speaking to those present, Gohil said his participation was intended as a mark of respect during the ongoing 'Amrut Parv' celebrations at Somnath.

He noted the scale of public turnout at the temple site and along the roadshow route. "A large number of people have gathered in Somnath for the Amrut Parv celebrations, and devotees are taking part enthusiastically in the programmes, including the rituals at the temple," he said.

He further remarked on the Prime Minister's public engagement, stating that Narendra Modi was contributing to India's national profile and development.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is enhancing the pride of the country internationally and has taken India forward on the path of progress while carrying everyone together," Gohil said.

He also encouraged devotees and visitors to travel to Somnath for darshan at the shrine.

The roadshow drew large crowds throughout its route, with residents and visitors assembling on both sides of the road to view the convoy.

The events formed part of wider activities linked to the Amrut Parv celebrations at the Somnath temple complex, which have seen continued public participation in Gir Somnath district.

'Junior Bachchan' carrying a temple replica while PM Modi passes by - this is the kind of grassroots enthusiasm that keeps India's culture alive. Somnath has such deep historical roots, and seeing people celebrate it like this makes me proud. The Amrut Parv celebrations are bringing everyone together!

Respect to Pinakin Gohil for his creativity and dedication. But honestly, I wish we focused more on the temple's heritage and less on turning everything into a personality cult. The statue of unity reference is nice, but let's not forget Sardar Patel's real message of unity through diversity, not just big statues. 🤔

Gir Somnath is such a special place. I visited last year and the divine vibe there is unmatched. Seeing this roadshow and the public enthusiasm makes me want to plan another trip soon. The temple replica is a nice touch - shows how much people love their culture and PM both. Kya baat hai! 🇮🇳

Interesting how local supporters become part of these events. Coming from the US, I find it fascinating how Indian political rallies blend religion and patriotism. The replica sounds elaborate - must have taken days to make. I hope the celebrations at Somnath are peaceful and meaningful for all involved.

As someone who grew up hearing stories about Somnath's resilience from my grandmother, this news makes me emotional. The temple was destroyed multiple times but stood tall again. Seeing PM Modi's roadshow and the people's excitement reminds me that our traditions are alive and well. Junior Bachchan's replica is a work of art! ❤️
