Jason Momoa to feature in video game movie 'Helldivers'
Los Angeles, February 11
'Aquaman' star Jason Momoa will be seen in the action adventure 'Helldivers', a movie version of the popular video game.
Backed by Sony Pictures and PlayStation, the film is set to hit theaters on November 10, 2027.
Justin Lin, best known for the "Fast & Furious" franchise, is directing "Helldivers." Although the plot hasn't been confirmed, the shooter-style video game follows an elite unit of soldiers -- known as Helldivers -- who battle alien creatures that are threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth, as per Variety.
This marks the latest big-screen collaboration between Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions following 2022's video game adaptation "Uncharted." That film, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, became a box office winner with USD 407 million globally.
On the small screen, Sony and PlayStation have worked together on the Peacock's series "Twisted Metal" and Emmy-winning show "The Last of Us" for HBO.

Another video game adaptation? After The Last of Us, expectations are sky-high. Hope they focus on a good story and not just CGI spectacle. Fingers crossed 🤞
Sony and PlayStation are really doubling down on their IP. Smart move. Uncharted did well, so the track record is good. Momoa + Justin Lin sounds like a solid action combo.
Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of these big-budget game adaptations. They often feel soulless. I'd respectfully suggest they invest in more original scripts. That said, Momoa is always fun to watch.
Never played the game, but the premise sounds like a typical alien invasion flick. Will it release in India on the same date? Sometimes we have to wait weeks. Hope not!
The director of Fast & Furious? Expect lots of explosions and one-liners then! Could be a fun time-pass movie for a weekend with friends. Not expecting an Oscar winner, haha.
