James Gunn unveils poster of 'Clayface'
Los Angeles, April 22
On Wednesday, filmmaker James Gunn unveiled an official poster of 'Clayface'.
The poster has a dark, intense, almost horror-like tone. It shows a close-up side profile of a human face emerging from deep shadows.
Tom Rhys Harries stars as the shape-shifting villain Clayface, whose real name is Matt Hagen. He starts out as a struggling actor whose face is disfigured and then undergoes a scientific transformation that turns his body entirely into clay, as per Variety.
James Watkins, who previously directed the 2024 English-language remake of the horror film Speak No Evil, is at the helm of the DC project. The cast features Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, and David Dencik.
Clayface first appeared in a 1940 issue of "Detective Comics," and several people have taken up the moniker to battle Batman across countless comics and several animated shows. He's appeared in live-action TV on episodes of "Gotham," "Pennyworth" and "Birds of Prey," plus animated shows like "Harley Quinn," "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," "Young Justice," "Batman: Caped Crusader" and more.
The film is set to be released on October 23.

Interesting to see a deeper dive into a villain's backstory. The struggle of an actor resonates in India too, where the pressure to look a certain way is immense. Hope the film explores the psychological aspects and not just the action.
October 23rd release! Perfect timing after the festive season here. James Gunn has a good track record, but I hope they don't make it too dark and lose the comic book essence. The cast looks solid though.
As someone who loved the character in the animated series, I'm cautiously optimistic. The poster is moody and perfect. But please, for the love of all things DC, give us a good story and not just CGI spectacle. The premise of a disfigured actor seeking transformation is rich material.
DC is finally using its deep roster of villains. Clayface is a classic. Hope this leads to more villain-centric films. Indian audiences love complex characters, and this seems to fit the bill. Booking tickets already! 😄
Respectfully, I have to ask – another dark, gritty DC film? The poster description sounds great, but the tone worries me a bit. We have enough horror films. Can't superhero movies be fun and thrilling too? Just a thought from a casual viewer.
