Jackie Shroff marks 27 years of 'Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya' starring Kajol, Ayesha Jhulka
Mumbai, July 2
Bollywood star Jackie Shroff took a trip down memory lane as his 1999 romantic drama 'Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya' completed 27 years on July 2.
Celebrating the milestone, the actor shared a montage featuring stills and memorable moments from the film on his social media account with the hashtag '#27YearsOfHoteHotePyaarHoGaya'.
The montage featured Jackie in a formal black suit from one of the film's iconic scenes, along with a wedding sequence featuring him and co-star Kajol.
The story was accompanied by the title track 'Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya' sung by Alka Yagnik.
For the uninitiated, the movie 'Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya' released on July 9, 1999, and was directed by Firoz Irani. It starred Jackie Shroff, Kajol, Ayesha Jhulka, Atul Agnihotri in pivotal roles, alongside Aruna Irani, Tiku Talsania, Prem Chopra and Johnny Lever.
The romantic drama revolved around two strangers who enter into an unexpected marriage under unusual circumstances before gradually falling in love while dealing with family conflicts and misunderstandings.
This was the only movie that starred Jackie Shroff and Kajol together, paired opposite each other.
Jackie, now 69, made his acting debut as a leading man with Subhash Ghai's 1983 blockbuster 'Hero'.
Over the decades, he has been part of several successful multi-starrer films, including 'Tridev', 'Ram Lakhan', 'Parinda', '100 Days', 'Khalnayak', 'Border', 'Devdas', 'Happy New Year' amongst others.
On the work front, Jackie was most recently seen in the family entertainer 'The Great Grand Superhero', which released on May 29 and received a warm response, particularly from children and family audiences.
On the personal front Jackie is the father of Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff and entrepreneur-fitness influencer Krishna Shroff.

I remember watching this in the theatre with my family! Johnny Lever's comedy was top-notch as usual. Jackie Shroff is a legend - from 'Hero' to now, still going strong. Wishing him all the success for 'The Great Grand Superhero' too. 🙌
Honestly, I find it surprising that this movie is remembered so fondly. The plot was quite predictable - forced marriage leading to love, family drama, misunderstandings... typical 90s Bollywood. But yes, the music was lovely and Jackie's charm carried it. Just wish filmmakers today would make such clean, family-friendly romances again. 🤷♀️
Miss those days when Bollywood made simple, heartwarming films without excessive violence or vulgarity. Jackie Shroff's filmography is filled with classics - 'Border', 'Parinda', 'Khalnayak' - what a range! And now his son Tiger is carrying the legacy forward. Time flies, yaar. 😢
Never really liked this movie, but I appreciate Jackie Shroff's longevity in the industry. He's 69 and still active! Unlike many actors who fade away, he keeps reinventing himself. 'Tridev' and 'Ram Lakhan' were my favorites growing up. Respect for staying grounded despite being a star. 💪
That wedding scene was so iconic! The song 'Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya' still gives me goosebumps. Alka Yagnik's voice was magical. And Jackie in that black suit? 🔥 Kajol looked beautiful too. Such a pure love story, no item
