Two Indian Army soldiers suffered injuries on Tuesday after a stray landmine explosion in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, according to sources.

In a separate incident earlier this month, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was killed in a joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Shopian, the Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and the CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, police said.

The identity of the deceased is being verified, police sources said, adding that some arms and ammunition were also observed near the body from a distance.

In a post on X, J&K Police said, "You Can Run, But You Can't Hide! One Lashkar terrorist was neutralised by SOG Shopian in a joint operation, along with RR and CRPF."

According to police sources, a few gunshots were heard during the operation, which were responded to by the security forces. Following the exchange of fire, a body was recovered near the encounter site in the Chanapora area of Shopian.

Another day, another incident near the LoC. The soldiers stationed there are real heroes, but I wish the government would do more to clear these old minefields or at least ensure better safety protocols. Hope the injured are out of danger soon.

As someone from the West, this reminds me how constant the tensions are in Kashmir. Good to see the security forces are vigilant—taking out a LeT terrorist in Shopian shows they're on top of things. Thoughts with the injured soldiers.

It's heartbreaking that our jawans have to deal with such risks daily. The landmine situation has been a lingering issue for decades. While I appreciate the Army's efforts, I wish there were better demining initiatives. Also, great job on the Shopian operation—terrorists must be stopped. ✊

Sending support from abroad. The LoC is one of the most dangerous borders in the world, and these soldiers are incredibly brave. The anti-terror ops in Shopian are a good sign too. Stay safe, India.

Hope the soldiers recover quickly. The Uri sector is always on edge. But why can't we clear these landmines properly? It feels like a preventable tragedy. On the brighter side, the Shopian operation shows the security forces aren't letting up on terror networks.
