Actor Jackky Bhagnani attends Republic Day celebration hosted by Romanian Ambassador Sena Latif, discussing cultural exchange and the historic India-EU FTA.

"These kinds of events bring a lot of cultures together. - Jackky Bhagnani"

New Delhi, January 30

Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani attended the beating retreat celebrations of India's Republic Day at the Ambassador of Romania to India, Sena Latif's residence in Delhi on Thursday. The evening celebration marked the arrival of several diplomats and ambassadors, and it was titled 'Resonating Love - We Are the New World.'

While talking to ANI, Jackky Bhagnani explained the significance of the event, saying that such a foster cultural exchange "interests" him because it offers an opportunity to interact with people from different countries and learn about their cultures.

"These kinds of events bring a lot of cultures together. You get to learn about theirs, they get to learn about yours. For me, it's always interesting to meet people from different countries and learn about their culture, learn about their place, their locations, and it makes you grow as a person," said Jackky Bhagnani.

The event was conceptualised, curated, and created by Dr. Sanjaanaa Jon, whose vision of "We Are the New World" continues to bridge diplomacy, culture, sustainability, and the arts as instruments of global unity.

She effortlessly hosted the entire evening, including a generous and respectful welcome for the guests and anchoring the musical programme.

The programme featured a musical journey led by Stephen Devey, whose compositions created a mesmerising and contemplative atmosphere, joined by Ustad Kamal Sabri.

At the event, Sena Latif, Ambassador of Romania to India, also hailed the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing it as a "mother of all deals".

Speaking to ANI, the Ambassador of Romania described the recent Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union as "historic", saying that it creates a common market which connects two billion consumers from around the world.

"It's a historical deal (India-EU FTA) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced. It will be signed very soon, but the negotiations have concluded. It was a very difficult, long process of 18 years of negotiations for the free trade agreement between the EU and India. They call it the mother of all deals, because we know about how many free trade deals we're talking about these days," said Sena Latif, the Ambassador of Romania.

She continued, "But this is the most important one, bringing together 2 billion consumers, a quarter of the world, a third of the world's market. It's two huge partners that are bringing together their forces to have a common market, which is beneficial for all of us, and definitely for Romania and India as well."

The India-EU FTA was jointly announced on Tuesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa at the 16th India-EU Summit, held during the visit of European leaders to India.

While I appreciate the cultural exchange, I hope such events aren't just glamorous parties for the elite. The real test is whether this "new world" vision translates into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens, especially with this historic FTA.

18 years of negotiation for the FTA! That's some patience. "Mother of all deals" is quite a statement. Hoping this means more opportunities for our startups and MSMEs to reach European markets. Jai Hind!

Dr. Sanjaanaa Jon and the team deserve credit for curating this. Blending diplomacy, arts, and sustainability is the need of the hour. Also, Romania is a beautiful country, glad to see our ties strengthening. 🙏

Interesting read. The scale of the India-EU partnership is often underreported in Western media. A common market of that size will reshape global trade dynamics. The cultural event seems like a perfect soft-power backdrop for such a big economic announcement.
