Kolkata, May 15

Three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders will clash with 2022 winners Gujarat Titans in the 60th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.

KKR's journey has been full of ups and downs in the IPL 2026. They started off without a single win in the first six matches. The three-time champions, however, turned the tables after that as they won four consecutive matches. Their winning spree was finally halted by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their last match.

After the defeat, KKR are currently placed at eighth position in the points table with 9 points in 11 matches. KKR currently remains at the edge in the playoff race. Ajinkya Rahane's side will need to win all their remaining matches to reach 15 points, following which the net run rate and other teams' performance will decide their fate.

While on the other side, the Gujarat Titans are on a winning spree, riding on a five-match streak, they are currently placed at the number two spot in the points table with 16 points from 12 matches. The Shubman Gill-led side will become the first team to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs. They will also grab the number one spot in the points table.

As a neutral fan, watching Shubman Gill lead GT has been a masterclass. The guy has matured so much since 2022. But KKR at Eden Gardens on a Saturday night? That's a different beast. The crowd alone might lift them to an upset. 🔥

Yaar, KKR's batting depth is impressive on paper - Green, Rinku, Manish - but they haven't clicked as a unit. Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy has been underrated though. If they win this, the playoff race gets very interesting. GT should be wary of complacency! 📺

GT's bowling attack is scary good - Rabada, Siraj, Rashid, Prasidh... they have options for every phase. But Eden Gardens is known for high scores, so our batters need to show their class. Disappointed that Banton hasn't played much this season. 😞

Honestly, the way IPL scheduling works, it's frustrating. KKR needs to win all remaining matches just to have a chance. That's too much pressure on players. Also, why is JioHotstar the only streaming option? Some of us don't have those subscriptions! 😤

Interesting battle - Gill vs Rahane as captains. Gill seems more aggressive and innovative, while Rahane is more defensive. But in a must-win game, defense might not work. KKR should go all out with Green opening and Rinku at 3. 💯
