IPL 2026: We have to turn up really well as RCB are playing really well, says Kuldeep

Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav says his team must raise their game to challenge the in-form defending champions RCB in their IPL 2026 match.

"Playing against RCB because they are playing really well and we have to turn up really well. - Kuldeep Yadav"

Bengaluru, April 18

Delhi Capitals left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav acknowledged the challenge of facing an in-form defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and said his team must raise its game in Saturday's IPL 2026 clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Axar Patel-led DC arrive after a week's break from the competition with an aim to end their two-game losing streak. "We had a couple of days off and then obviously from 15th, we had one session in CoE and a couple of sessions here in Bangalore. So, lovely to have a couple of good sessions of training here.

"If you look at our team, we have quality in our side and work collectively, that's the most important thing. Playing against RCB because they are playing really well and we have to turn up really well," said Kuldeep in a pre-game chat with the broadcasters.

On DC's campaign so far, Kuldeep said, "Look, we started really well. We looked like a complete team in the first two games. Obviously, in the third game against Gujarat also, we were very good.

"Unfortunately, we lost the game by one run. But, in the last game also I believe we got a very good start with the bat. But obviously, losing four wickets in four overs, that actually changed the momentum for us."

Asked on what mindset does he take into Saturday's game, Kuldeep said, "It's very important to understand the situation when you bowl and especially playing here, a day game.

"Even in a night game also, you have seen the spinners get a bit of help from the wicket. If I get a couple of wickets in the middle overs, that'll be very good for the team and that's my role."

Respect to Kuldeep for being honest. That one-run loss against Gujarat must have hurt. But that's cricket! Hoping for a cracking contest. As a neutral fan, just want to see some good spin bowling from him. 🏏

DC has the talent but lacks consistency. Axar needs to lead from the front. Losing 4 wickets in 4 overs is unacceptable at this level. They need to play smart cricket, not just aggressive cricket. #DelhiCapitals

Good to see a player acknowledge the opponent's form. RCB are looking unstoppable. Kuldeep vs RCB's middle order will be the key battle. Hoping for a high-scoring thriller!

Chinnaswamy wicket helping spinners? That's new! 😄 But seriously, if Kuldeep says it, it must be true. His role is crucial. If he picks 2-3 in the middle, RCB's batting depth will be tested. Saturday can't come soon enough!

With all due respect to Kuldeep, I feel DC's problem is more strategic than talent-based. The team selection and batting order in the last game were questionable. Hope the break gave them time to fix these issues, not just practice.
