IPL 2026 Fixtures Swapped: GT-CSK Matches Moved Due to Gujarat Elections

The BCCI has announced a revision to the IPL 2026 schedule, swapping the venues for two fixtures between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. This change was made due to municipal corporation elections scheduled in Ahmedabad and Gujarat on April 26, 2026. Consequently, the match originally set for Ahmedabad on that date will now be played in Chennai, while the reverse fixture in May will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced a revision in the schedule of Indian Premier League 2026, with the April 26 clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings shifted to Chennai from Ahmedabad and their reverse fixture on May 21 being alloted to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

This has been done keeping in mind the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat scheduled on April 26, 2026.

Currently, GT are at the fifth spot in the points table with two wins and two losses each, with four points. They won their last match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Lucknow on Sunday. CSK also broke their three-match losing streak, winning by 23 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at their home venue of Chepauk Stadium on Saturday.

As an Ahmedabad resident, I'm a bit disappointed. Was really looking forward to that weekend match. But I understand the reasoning. At least we get the May 21st game now. Hope the election process goes smoothly.

Interesting logistical challenge. The IPL schedule is always a nightmare to manage with elections, weather, and other events. They seem to be getting better at handling these last-minute changes compared to a few years ago.

Thik hai, adjustment ho gaya. But BCCI should plan these things much earlier. They know election dates well in advance. This last-minute announcement creates problems for fans who had already booked travel and hotels for Ahmedabad. A little more foresight, please.

Whistle Podu! 💛 An extra match at Chepauk is always a blessing. The atmosphere there is electric. Tough for GT to play two away games against CSK now, but that's the game. Hope Dhoni is still playing in 2026 to lead the side!

Practical move. You can't have a huge sporting event on the same day as municipal elections in the same city. Police forces will be stretched thin. Safety of citizens and smooth voting comes first. Cricket can wait for a few weeks.
