IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans win toss; opts to field vs Chennai Super Kings
Chennai, April 26
Gujarat Titans on Sunday afternoon won the toss, and they have decided to field against the Chennai Super Kings in the 37th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season.
The high-voltage clash between the five-time champions CSK and the Gujarat-based franchise is being played at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After winning the toss, the Gujarat skipper said that if the wicket is playing well, batters can get aggressive and score as many runs in the first six overs. However, Gill stressed on to assess the conditions.
"We are gonna bowl first. Looks like a good wicket. Actually, not that bad, there's a breeze. We are doing a lot of things right; it's about winning the small moments. (More aggressive in the power play?) If the wicket is good, get as many in the powerplay. It's important to assess the conditions. Arshad is coming back," GT skipper Shubman Gill said.
Speaking at the toss, the Super Kings skipper said that the wicket is on the drier side and they don't mind putting a score and defending it against the Titans.
"It's a bit on the drier side. We don't mind putting a score and defending it. The confidence is high. This game starts from zero. We have to assess. We are getting better and better. One or two areas we need to click. I've been getting starts. One change. Urvil comes in," CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said.

I'm excited to see Rashid Khan and Rabada bowling together for GT! But why is Siraj playing? He's been expensive this season. CSK's spin attack with Noor and Akeal could be tricky. Should be a good match though! 🏏
Honestly, both teams have weak middle orders. CSK relying too much on Sanju and Ruturaj. GT's batting depth is a joke - after Buttler and Gill, it's all hope. At least we got Washington Sundar playing today, but where is Tewatia? Impact sub maybe?
Finally Arshad Khan is back! GT's bowling attack is dangerous - Josh, Rashid, Rabada, Siraj... that's four international quality bowlers. CSK better watch out. But I'm a bit worried about CSK's batting without big hitters in the middle. 😬
I think CSK made a tactical error by not playing an extra batter. Dube is inconsistent, and Kartik Sharma is unproven at this level. GT's bowling lineup is too strong for a batting lineup with only 4-5 reliable players. CSK need to score 180+ to have a chance.
This is going to be a cracker of a match! 🎉 Chepauk crowd always adds to the atmosphere. I just hope the pitch doesn't turn too much from the start - want to see some proper batting from both sides. Shubman Gill vs CSK spinners will be key!
