India's tech solutions delivering prosperity at grassroots level: PM Modi
Paris, June 18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India's technology-driven solutions are creating prosperity at the grassroots level, highlighting how innovations in agriculture, fisheries, healthcare, and digital services are transforming lives across the country.
Addressing the VivaTech 2026 conference here, PM Modi said India is leveraging technology not only to drive innovation but also to ensure that its benefits reach ordinary citizens.
He stressed that technology must be democratised and made accessible to all if it is to deliver meaningful progress.
"An AI application called Sarlaben speaks to millions of women dairy farmers in their own language, giving expert guidance on livestock health and management," PM Modi said.
"Indian women are being trained as drone pilots for spraying fertiliser and crop monitoring. Satellite data is guiding hundreds of thousands of fishermen to the most promising fishing zones, helping them save fuel, reduce time and improve catch," he added.
"Our technology solutions are delivering prosperity at the grassroots level."
PM Modi also highlighted the role of Indian startups in driving innovation across sectors. With more than 200,000 startups, India has emerged as one of the world's most vibrant startup ecosystems, he said.
"From space technologies to nuclear energy, we are expanding the frontiers of human capability," he stressed.
"India became the first country to land near the Moon's south pole. And recently, India's prototype fast breeder reactor achieved criticality. It has brought us closer to realising our three-stage nuclear energy vision, including the use of our vast thorium reserves," he added.
Emphasising India's vision for artificial intelligence, PM Modi said AI should improve lives, widen access and support sustainable growth.
"AI must improve lives, widen access, drive growth and also help us sustain a healthy planet. Our participation as the AI Country Partner at VivaTech 2026 reflects this very vision. For India, AI means all-inclusive," the Prime Minister quipped.

The drone pilot training for women is a game-changer. 🚁 My cousin in Maharashtra attended one such government workshop and now she earns ₹25,000 a month just for crop monitoring. But the big question is - are we scaling these initiatives fast enough? Many villages still lack basic internet connectivity. Let's hope budget allocation matches the vision.
As someone who works in agri-tech, I can vouch for satellite data helping fishermen. My startup did a pilot in Kerala - fuel savings of 15-20% just by predicting fish zones. The PM is right, but we need to ensure these tools are translated into local languages and made super simple for our farmers and fishermen to use. Tech is useless if it's not accessible.
Wonderful to see PM Modi sharing India's story at VivaTech 2026! 🇮🇳 The nuclear energy breakthrough with the fast breeder reactor is huge for our energy independence. But I hope the government also focuses on making these innovations affordable - thorium power is great, but can we make electricity bills lower for the common man? That's true prosperity.
The 'AI means All-inclusive' line is catchy but we need measurable outcomes. Show me the numbers! How many women actually became drone pilots? How much has milk production increased for those dairy farmers using Sarlaben? I'm cautiously optimistic but want to see ground reports from those villages before celebrating. Data speaks louder than speeches.
As someone from the US who follows Indian tech, this is impressive. I didn't know about the Sarlaben AI or the female drone pilots. India is leapfrogging traditional development
