"Indian sport is better because of people like you": PV Sindhu meets Virat Kohli at RCB Indian Sports Summit
Bengaluru, May 19
It was a union of two of India's most beloved sports - cricket and badminton - as batting icon Virat Kohli and two-time Olympic medalist shuttler PV Sindhu met at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
After her meeting with Kohli, Sindu took to Instagram and penned a note praising the star batter.
She wrote, "Every time I've needed guidance, you've always been there with the right advice and the right words. There is no better example of what a true senior in Indian sport should be: generous, grounded, inspiring, and always willing to lift others up. 'Never back down, PV'. Advice taken. Keep being the absolute force of a human being that you are. Indian sport is better because of people like you ."
PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, recently competed at the Thailand Open, where her journey ended in the quarterfinals with a loss to Akane Yamaguchi."
Her best performance was a third position in January during the Malaysia Open.
Virat is among the top run-getters in IPL 2026, sitting in the top 10 with 542 runs in 13 matches at an average of 54.20 and a strike rate of 164.74, with a century and four fifties. His improvement in strike rate this year and registering the ninth 500-run IPL campaign of his career adds another chapter to his evolution in T20 cricket. RCB sits at the top spot and has qualified for the playoffs.
He will be in action in Indian colours during a home ODI series against Afghanistan from June 14 to 20.

Kohli's growth this IPL season has been incredible. 542 runs at 164 strike rate is top-class. But honestly, what I love more is seeing him mentor Sindhu. She's a two-time Olympic medalist - one of our greatest ever. If this summit helps our athletes learn from each other, it's great for Indian sports.
Been following Sindhu since Rio 2016. She's a fighter, no doubt. But I wish we didn't always put cricketers on a pedestal. Sindhu's achievements in badminton - Olympic medals, World Championships - are phenomenal. She should be giving advice too, not just receiving it. But it's nice to see this camaraderie.
What a beautiful gesture! Sindhu is our pride - from Rio silver to Tokyo bronze, she's been consistent. And Kohli's transformation in T20s this year shows why he's the GOAT. This summit should happen more often. Indian sports need cross-pollination of ideas and mutual respect.
Honestly, I love this ❤️ PV Sindhu saying 'Indian sport is better because of people like you' to Kohli - that's so genuine. Both are icons in their own right. Kohli with his insane work ethic and Sindhu with her never-give-up attitude. Perfect role models for young athletes across India!
The Olympic medalists and cricket legends coming together shows how far Indian sports has come. From just cricket obsession to celebrating badminton, wrestling, shooting - it's a beautiful journey. Sindhu and Kohli represent excellence. Hope this summit leads to more support for
