India ready to extend all assistance to flood hit Nepal, says TN BJP leader H. Raja

Senior Tamil Nadu BJP leader, H. Raja, said the Indian government was prepared to provide all necessary assistance to Nepal as the Himalayan nation grappled with devastating floods that caused widespread loss of life and property.
In a post on X, Raja expressed grief over the destruction and extended solidarity to the people of Nepal.
He said the melting of glaciers had led to unprecedented flooding in several major rivers, including the Gandaki, Trishuli and Koshi, triggering a major natural disaster across the country.
The scale of the destruction had caused anguish among people worldwide, he said. Visuals of houses, commercial buildings, flyovers, major roads and vehicles being swept away by raging floodwaters were deeply distressing.
Raja noted that several people had reportedly lost their lives, while many Nepalese citizens and Indian tourists remained missing.
Referring to the situation of travellers from Tamil Nadu, he said 57 people from the state had gone to Nepal.
"The Almighty should protect all of them and ensure that they return home safely," he said.
Raja said the Indian government had conveyed its readiness to provide Nepal with all assistance required to manage the crisis and carry out relief and rescue operations.
Several countries across the world had also expressed concern and offered support to Nepal following the disaster, he added.
He said the Centre was taking precautionary measures following warnings that the flooding in Nepal could affect Bihar, which shares a long border with the neighbouring country.
Authorities were closely monitoring the situation to minimise the possible impact of rising water levels on communities living in vulnerable areas, he said.
Highlighting that natural disasters transcended national borders, languages and geographical boundaries, Raja called for solidarity with the flood-affected people of Nepal during the difficult period.
He prayed for the swift recovery of those injured or displaced and hoped that rescue teams would locate the missing people safely.
He also expressed condolences to families who had lost their loved ones in the floods.
"During this difficult time, we pray for the speedy recovery of Nepal and its people. We also pray to the Almighty for the souls of those who lost their lives in this devastating natural calamity to rest in peace," Raja said, reiterating India's commitment to stand with Nepal during the humanitarian crisis.
