IMD predicts intermittent rain, thunderstorm activity across Delhi-NCR till June 21

New Delhi, June 18

The weather in the Delhi-National Capital Region is expected to remain changeable over the next week, with light to moderate rainfall, thundershowers, and strong winds likely to provide relief from the prevailing heat, according to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department.

The IMD has predicted intermittent rain and thunderstorm activity across the region from June 18 to June 21. During this period, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with light rainfall occurring in several areas. Despite the fluctuating weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has not issued any weather warnings or alerts at present.

One of the key relief factors for residents is that the maximum temperature is unlikely to cross the 40-degree Celsius mark during the coming days. Weather experts said the combined impact of western disturbances and local weather systems is expected to keep temperatures under control and make conditions relatively pleasant.

According to the forecast, the maximum temperature on June 18 is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may settle at 26 degrees Celsius. On June 19, the maximum temperature is likely to rise slightly to 39 degrees Celsius, with the minimum expected to be 28 degrees Celsius.

For June 20, the maximum temperature is estimated at 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 29 degrees Celsius. On June 21, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may touch 30 degrees Celsius.

The weather is likely to remain relatively stable on June 22 and 23, with partly cloudy skies forecast across the NCR. On June 22, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 38 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius, respectively. On June 23, the maximum temperature could reach 39 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain around 31 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists said that strong winds and intermittent rainfall will help prevent extreme heat conditions in the region. While residents can expect relief from heatwave-like conditions, humid weather may persist in some areas.

Overall, cloud cover, rainfall, and gusty winds are expected to keep temperatures within the normal range and make weather conditions more comfortable across the NCR in the coming week.

Great news but I hope the waterlogging doesn't happen like last year. Our drainage system can't handle even a small shower. 🤦‍♀️

Typical Delhi weather - one day you're sweating, next day you're shivering. At least the AC bill will come down a bit. But why no warning issued? Better safe than sorry.

Living in Noida, I welcome this. My plants were dying in the heat. Just hoping the thunderstorm doesn't damage traffic signals again - that's a mess. 😂

IMD is getting better with predictions, but I still remember when they said 'light rain' and we got flooded. Hopefully this time they're accurate. My rooftop garden is waiting! 🌿

Great for the heat, but commuting in Delhi during rain is a nightmare. Waterlogging, traffic jams, breakdowns... Hope authorities are prepared this time. Not holding my breath though.

Mausam bhai ka raham hai! This is what we needed - no AC for a few days. Perfect for chai and pakoras. Just hope the humidity doesn't kill the vibe. 😊
