The event to mark the Team's 30th Anniversary was held at Air Force Station Bidar on May 26 and the occasion commemorated three glorious decades of inspiring the nation through precision aerobatics and exceptional airmanship, said the statement.

The celebrations were also attended by Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Air Marshal S Shrinivas.

A poignant "Hollow Diamond" formation was flown in remembrance of the brave team members the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team lost during its illustrious journey, said the statement.

The tribute reflected the deep camaraderie, courage and enduring spirit that define the team, it said.

Since its formation in 1996 at Bidar, the team has enthralled millions across India and abroad with over 800 air displays, symbolising the pride, precision and professionalism of the Indian Air Force, it said.

The 'Hollow Diamond' formation for the fallen heroes gave me goosebumps. These pilots are not just skilled but have immense heart. 30 years of Suryakiran is a big milestone, and they still manage to inspire us every time they fly.

I was an exchange officer at Bidar in 2015 and got to see the SKAT training up close. The precision is unmatched. Good to see the Chief flying with them to celebrate this anniversary. Respect.

While this is a proud moment, I wish we also saw more focus on the ground infrastructure at Bidar and the welfare of the airmen who support these displays. The pilots get all the limelight, but the team behind them is equally important. Still, a big congratulations to SKAT!

The Hawker Hawk is a brilliant trainer aircraft, but I wonder how long the IAF will keep these Mk-132s in service before moving to a newer platform? Still, 800+ displays in 30 years is a remarkable achievement. Well done, SKAT.

The Somnath flypast was legendary. Seeing the PM appreciate it on his X handle shows how this team connects our military with our culture. 'Bhakti aur Shakti' - perfect line. 🙏✈️
