Houthis claim "third joint missile operation" targeting Israel amid West Asia conflict

Yemen's Houthis announce a third coordinated missile strike on Israel with Iran and Hezbollah, escalating West Asia conflict tensions.

"successfully achieved its objectives - Yahya Saree"

Sanaa, April 1

The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced the execution of their "third joint operation" in coordination with allied groups in Iran and Lebanon, targeting "sensitive sites" in "south of occupied Palestine."

In a post on X, the official spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Yahya Saree, said the operation involved cooperation with "Brother Mujahideen" in Iran and Hezbollah. The statement claimed that a salvo of ballistic missiles was launched at "sensitive sites of the Israeli enemy, south of occupied Palestine."

According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, the Yemeni Armed Forces said the latest strike was conducted "in support of the resistance fronts" and marked their third such coordinated operation. The group asserted that the mission "carried out in cooperation with Iran and Hezbollah and has been successful."

Meanwhile, according to the IDF's official Telegram channel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Wednesday identified missiles launched from Iran towards Israel. According to the IDF, defensive systems were operating to intercept the threat. The Home Front Command had sent a precautionary directive directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas.

Earlier, on Sunday, Yemen's Houthis announced a "second military operation" targeting Israel in a significant escalation of the ongoing West Asia conflict, using a barrage of cruise missiles and drones against what it described as "vital and military sites" in southern occupied Palestine.

In a statement posted on Telegram, Yahya Saree, the Houthis' military spokesperson, said that the operation was launched as part of the "Holy Jihad Battle" and coincided with military actions by allied groups, including forces in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon. He added that the second operation "successfully achieved its objectives."

"Forces carried out the second military operation in the "Holy Jihad Battle" with a barrage of cruise missiles and drones targeting several vital and military sites belonging to the Zionist enemy in southern occupied Palestine. This operation coincided with the military operations being carried out by our mujahideen brothers in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and, by the grace of Allah, it successfully achieved its objectives," the statement read.

This came moments after the Iranian-backed group in Yemen officially joined the conflict in the region, earlier on Saturday.

The article mentions "occupied Palestine" which is the Houthi/Iranian perspective. It's important for news to present neutral facts. The conflict is complex, but the use of ballistic missiles against civilian areas is never justified, no matter who launches them.

Worrying news. This directly impacts global trade routes, including those vital for India. The Red Sea disruptions have already hurt our exporters. Hope our naval presence is prepared to secure our interests. 🇮🇳

So much suffering on all sides. When will this end? As an Indian, our culture teaches us *ahimsa* (non-violence). These tit-for-tat attacks only create more orphans and widows. The international community needs to step up mediation, not just watch.

The Iran-Houthi-Hezbollah axis is becoming more coordinated. This is a strategic challenge. India's relationship with Iran is crucial for Chabahar Port and energy security, but we cannot ignore the threat such alliances pose to regional stability. A delicate balancing act for MEA.

Respectfully, the article seems to heavily rely on statements from one side (Houthis/Tasnim). Would be good to have more on the actual impact, damage assessment, or independent verification. The term "successful operation" is their claim, not established fact.
