New Delhi, June 7

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the newly constructed 'Sabareesam' building at the Ayyappa Temple complex in R K Puram, New Delhi, on Sunday.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., during which HM Shah will formally dedicate the building to devotees and the temple community.

The new facility has been developed within the temple premises to expand infrastructure and strengthen the temple's religious, cultural, and social activities.

Temple authorities believe that the Sabareesam building will serve as an important centre for spiritual gatherings, community events, charitable initiatives and various devotional programmes organised throughout the year.

Confirming the event, the Office of the Union Home Minister announced on social media platform X: "UHM Shri Amit Shah Ji will inaugurate the newly constructed 'SABAREESAM' building at the Ayyappa Temple complex in New Delhi tomorrow."

The Ayyappa Temple in R K Puram is regarded as one of the most prominent Lord Ayyappa shrines in North India. Established in 1980, the temple is known for its traditional Kerala-style architecture and attracts devotees from Delhi and neighbouring states. Over the years, it has emerged as an important spiritual and cultural centre for the Malayali community and devotees of Lord Ayyappa in the national capital.

The temple regularly hosts religious ceremonies, bhajans, special pujas, cultural programmes, and community service activities. Its role extends beyond worship, with various initiatives aimed at promoting social welfare and community engagement among devotees.

The inauguration of the Sabareesam building is expected to further enhance facilities within the temple complex and provide additional space for religious, cultural and social activities. Temple authorities hope the new infrastructure will help accommodate growing participation in events and support the temple's expanding community outreach efforts.

The event is expected to draw devotees and members of the temple community, marking another milestone in the development of one of Delhi's most prominent Ayyappa temples.

While I appreciate the infrastructure development, I hope the temple authorities also focus on eco-friendly practices and waste management given the large gatherings. Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa! 😊

Nice to see a Union Minister inaugurating a religious facility. This temple has always been a beautiful blend of Kerala architecture in the heart of Delhi. I'm not from the Malayali community myself, but I've attended the annual festivals here—the atmosphere is truly divine. Hope the new building has proper ventilation and accessibility features for elderly devotees.

Sabarimala pilgrimage is on my bucket list for next year! In the meantime, the RK Puram temple has been a blessing for those of us who can't travel to Kerala often. More space for bhajans and community events is always welcome. Good initiative 🙏

As someone who's visited this temple several times, I think the new building will really help with crowd management. The temple complex gets very packed during weekends and festivals. Hope they maintain the traditional Kerala-style architecture throughout the expansion. 🙏

This temple holds a special place in our hearts. My family has been coming here since the 1990s. The community service initiatives are commendable—from free medical camps to food distribution during festivals. Hope the new Sabareesam building continues this legacy and maybe even adds a library or a meditation hall for devotees. Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa! 🪷
