While the tribute is welcome, it's important to remember the current political reality. The AIADMK is no longer allied with the BJP. This feels more like an outreach attempt before the elections rather than pure remembrance. Just my observation.

MGR's legacy is beyond politics. For millions, he was 'Puratchi Thalaivar' (Revolutionary Leader). His mid-day meal scheme for school children was a game-changer. It's good his contributions are being recognized on a national platform.

Interesting to read about his film career alongside his political one. Winning a National Award for Best Actor while being a sitting MLA shows his unique stature. A true icon.

The article also highlights the PM's busy schedule in the East. Flagging off the Vande Bharat Sleeper is a big deal for connectivity. Development and paying respects to legends – both are important.

As someone from Tamil Nadu, I appreciate the recognition of MGR's work for Tamil culture. He used cinema effectively to promote social messages and Tamil pride. His birth anniversary is still a big day here.
