Himesh Patel to be seen in Ryan Coogler's 'X-Files'
Los Angeles, March 27
Indian-origin actor Himesh Patel has bagged a pivotal role in Ryan Coogler's 'The X-Files' reboot pilot at Hulu.
As per Variety, Patel will star alongside previously announced cast member Danielle Deadwyler in the pilot, which was formally picked up at Hulu back in February.
The official logline for the show states, "Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents (Deadwyler, Patel) form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena."
Reportedly, Deadwyler and Patel will be playing wholly new characters rather than new iterations of Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully.
The role reunites Patel and Deadwyler, who previously appeared together in the HBO Max miniseries "Station Eleven." Patel earned an Emmy nomination for his leading role in the series.
His other projects include the HBO shows "Avenue 5" and "The Franchise," and he most recently appeared alongside Riz Ahmed in the Amazon series "Bait." In film, Patel has starred in features including "Yesterday" and Christopher Nolan's "Tenet," with Patel and Nolan re-teaming on Nolan's upcoming feature take on "The Odyssey."

Interesting! An X-Files reboot with new characters is a smart move. Patel and Deadwyler had great chemistry in Station Eleven. Ryan Coogler directing is the cherry on top. Hope it comes to Disney+ Hotstar quickly.
Good for him, but I hope the show is actually good. A lot of reboots these days feel soulless. The original X-Files was iconic. Big shoes to fill. Fingers crossed Coogler and the team do justice.
This is exciting news! Himesh Patel is such a versatile actor. Loved him in 'Yesterday'. The premise sounds fun - "unlikely bond" between two different agents. Perfect for a mystery series.
Another project with Nolan too? This guy is on fire! From Indian-origin actors like Patel and Riz Ahmed to directors like Mira Nair, our creative talent is finally getting the recognition it deserves globally. More power to him!
Respectfully, while I'm happy for his success, I do wish we'd see more of these actors in substantial roles within the Indian film industry as well. Our own OTT platforms could use talent like his. Just a thought.
