"My heart is constantly bursting open, while also breaking into a million pieces. - Hayley Erbert"

Washington DC, April 11

'Dancing With the Stars' fame Hayley Erbert has opened up about the emotional highs and lows of motherhood after welcoming her first child with husband Derek Hough, according to E! News.

Three months after the couple welcomed their daughter, Everley, the Dancing With the Stars alum shared a heartfelt note on social media reflecting on her journey.

"Motherhood is even more complex and contradicting than I could have ever imagined," Hayley wrote on Instagram. "It feels like living in two places at once. Where joy and heartache can both be true, all of the time," according to E! News.

She added, "My heart is constantly bursting open, while also breaking into a million pieces."

Addressing her daughter directly, Hayley expressed both excitement and nostalgia as Everley grows. "So excited for all the 'firsts' and the life ahead of you/us, yet wishing I could freeze time and never have any 'lasts,'" she wrote. "It's the most beautiful contradiction. This pull between holding on and letting go, between wanting time to slow down and knowing it never will."

She also noted that she is cherishing every moment while coming to terms with change. "Quietly grieving the version of you that existed just moments before," she shared.

Despite the emotional complexity, Hayley affirmed her deep love for her daughter. "If this is the dichotomy of motherhood, then I'll try my best to meet it with open arms," she said. "Soaking in every little detail, every version of you, every fleeting moment we have together," according to E! News.

She concluded, "I love being your mom. I love you beyond, Everley. I have truly never felt a love like this."

Hough also expressed his support, commenting, "My girls."

In a previous interview, he praised his wife's transition into motherhood, saying, "I tell her every day, 'You're amazing. You were meant for this. You're such a great mom.' I'm even more in love with her. I'm just so in awe of her. It's amazing," according to E! News.

It's nice to see celebrities being so real about the emotional side of parenting. In our Indian culture, we often focus so much on the celebration (which is great!) but sometimes forget to talk about the bittersweet feelings that come with it. More power to her for sharing this.

Respectfully, while I understand the sentiment, I feel articles like this sometimes over-romanticize the struggle. Many parents in India are dealing with far more pressing worries - financial stress, lack of support systems, healthcare access. The "beautiful contradiction" is a luxury of a certain privilege.

"Quietly grieving the version of you that existed just moments before." Wow, that hit home. My baby just started crawling and I already miss the newborn phase. Time flies way too fast. Congrats to the happy family!

My mother always says "bachche pal mein badh jaate hain" (children grow up in a moment). This article perfectly captures that feeling. It's a beautiful, painful, wonderful journey. More power to all the parents out there!
