Harshvardhan Rane shares glimpse of 'first trial look test' for stepping into RGV's 'Police Company'

Mumbai, Aug 11

Actor Harshvardhan Rane has shared a glimpse of his first trial look test as he prepares to step into the world of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming project 'Police Company'.

The actor took to X, formerly called Twitter, where he shared a video of himself removing his beard for his look as Dayanayak and said that the look is still in its early stages, with RGV set to add more permanent details and gradually build his character's appearance.

"This was my 1st trial look test for stepping into #DAYANAYAK sir's world. @rgvzoomin Sir will now add more permanent details and build the look slowly," Harshvardhan wrote as the caption.

It was on Monday when RGV announced his next titled "Police Company", which will be produced by T-Series.

RGV wrote: "My NEXT film's NAME being produced by T SERIES is... POLICE COMPANY With the tag line: 'It Is More Dangerous Than D Company'. The police is an institution, and an underworld company is a money making organisation.. But when an institution is given extra powers, it will soon become a company."

"After DAWOOD IBRAHIM brutally finished most of his rival gangs, he grew his GANG into a COMPANY and then left for DUBAI leaving his protégée CHOTA RAJAN to head the operations of D COMPANY. Subsequently a chain of events led to a split between Dawood and Rajan , which in turn caused a vacuum in the Mumbai underworld."

"Taking advantage of the situations many other gangs jumped in to stake their claim for the top spot creating a massive outburst of criminal activities. The system was completely failing to halt the gang activities which in turn was attracting a lot of young men from places like U P, M P, Bihar etc to join the underworld companies. In a panicky situation a special squad was created which in between 1997 and 2004 killed more than 300 gangsters."

RGV said that the film "Police Company" is story inspired from that "SQUAD based on one of its team members DAYA NAYAK which is being played by HARSH VARDHAN RANE ..The film has a huge ensemble cast , the details of which will be revealed soon."

The tagline "It Is More Dangerous Than D Company" gives me chills. RGV knows how to build atmosphere. Hope he doesn't just glorify the gangsters but shows the real cost of that violence. Daya Nayak's story deserves a nuanced telling.

Harshvardhan looks committed, removing that beard for a trial test. RGV's earlier films like Company and Sarkar were legendary. If he recaptures even half of that magic, we're in for a treat. Also, T-Series backing means good production value.

As someone who remembers the 90s and early 2000s in Mumbai, this era was scary. The police squad did what they had to, but there were also human rights concerns. I hope the film shows both sides—the heroism and the moral gray zones. RGV usually doesn't shy away from that.

Finally, a film about Daya Nayak! Those encounters were controversial but they cleaned up Mumbai's streets. The North Indian gangsters angle (UP, MP, Bihar) is also a real part of that history. Hope RGV does justice to the subject. 🤞

RGV's "Company" is one of my all-time favourites. This feels like a spiritual sequel to that universe. Harshvardhan Rane is underrated, so I'm happy he's getting a big platform. Just hope the script is tight and not just about gore.
