Manchester, April 4

Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup 2026 semi-finals after a dominant 4-0 victory over Liverpool, powered by a brilliant hat-trick from striker Erling Haaland.

Haaland's clinical finishing led City to their eighth successive FA Cup semi-final, extending their record in the prestigious tournament. The Norwegian striker was unstoppable, scoring three goals that left Liverpool struggling to keep pace.

City's comprehensive display highlighted their attacking prowess and tactical efficiency, while Liverpool struggled to respond, unable to break through City's disciplined defence.

The win ensures Manchester City remain strong contender for the FA Cup, with Haaland once again proving to be a decisive factor in the team's success.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City also thrashed the 150-year-old FA Cup record. According to ESPN, HIS team have now won their last 18 home games in the FA Cup -- breaking a record which has stood for nearly 150 years.

Clapham Rovers won 17 home cup ties between December 1873 and February 1881. It was so long ago that Clapham Rovers don't even exist anymore, having been dissolved in 1914 after the start of the First World War.

Victory over Liverpool also guaranteed an eighth straight semifinal appearance, stretching their own record of seven, which was set last season.

Guardiola's Man City are also just one win away from becoming the first team ever to reach four consecutive FA Cup finals. Man City haven't lost an FA Cup tie away from Wembley since they were knocked out at Wigan Athletic in 2018.

Watching this match at 1:30 AM IST was totally worth it! City's dominance is scary. That 150-year record broken... mind-blowing. Liverpool just had no answer.

Respectfully, while City's achievement is great, the article focuses too much on records and not enough on the game's flow. Liverpool's midfield was completely overrun - that was the real story. Still, Haaland is a beast!

Haaland's third goal was pure class! Manchester City under Guardiola is like a well-oiled machine. As a Chelsea fan (yes, we exist in India!), it's painful to watch but you have to appreciate greatness.

Breaking a 150-year record is no joke! Clapham Rovers in 1873... amazing context. City's consistency is unbelievable. They make it look easy. Pep is a genius, yaar.

As a neutral fan in Mumbai, this is why the Premier League is the best. Such high stakes, incredible players. Hope the FA Cup semis are just as exciting!
