Vadodara, June 29

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday announced the establishment of eight new Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation estates across five districts to strengthen investment, industrial development and employment in the state.

The announcement was made during the fourth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference held in Vadodara.

According to the state government, the new Smart Industrial Estates will be developed over 3,611 acres across Kheda, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur and Bhavnagar districts with modern infrastructure, amenities and an investment-friendly environment.

The new GIDCs will be established at Mahij, Sarkhej, Mahisa and Anghadi in Kheda district, Mandal in Ahmedabad district, Nadisar in Panchmahal district, Undva in Chhota Udepur district and Monpur in Bhavnagar district.

Among the proposed projects, the Monpur GIDC in Vallabhipur taluka of Bhavnagar district will be developed over 1,950.7 acres, while the Mandal GIDC in Ahmedabad district will cover 515.2 acres. The Mahij GIDC in Kheda district will span 130.3 acres, the Sarkhej GIDC in Kathlal taluka 332.7 acres, the Mahisa GIDC in Mahudha taluka 18.5 acres and the Anghadi GIDC in Galteshwar taluka 310.9 acres.

The Nadisar GIDC in Godhra taluka of Panchmahal district will be developed over 105.5 acres, and the Undva GIDC in Jetpur Pavi taluka of Chhota Udepur district over 247.1 acres.

According to the state government, the initiative is aimed at accelerating industrial investment in Central Gujarat, generating employment opportunities and promoting local development.

The government said the industrial estates will be developed as well-planned industrial areas with plug-and-play facilities to provide greater ease for investors and support micro, small, medium and large industries.

It added that the Smart Industrial Estates are expected to emerge as hubs of industry, technology and employment while strengthening the state's industrial ecosystem and creating new employment opportunities for local youth.

Finally some attention to Chhota Udepur district! Being from that area, I've seen how our youth have to migrate to Surat or Ahmedabad for jobs. Smart industrial estates with plug-and-play facilities could bring real change. Hope the government ensures local hiring quotas are implemented properly. 🤞

Vibrant Gujarat conferences have been happening for years - good intentions but poor execution on ground. Many earlier GIDCs still have vacant plots and incomplete infrastructure. Let's see if these 'Smart' estates are any different from the usual promises before elections.

As an investor looking at Gujarat, this is encouraging. The plug-and-play concept reduces setup time significantly. But I'd like to see clearer timelines and single-window clearance mechanisms. The 18.5-acre Mahisa GIDC seems quite small - hope they plan for scalability.

Great news for Kheda and Ahmedabad districts! These areas have good connectivity and skilled workforce. The Mandal GIDC at 515 acres could become a manufacturing hub. Just hope they include proper waste management systems - our industrial belts already have pollution issues. 🏭

The Panchmahal district's Nadisar GIDC is crucial for tribal areas. But we need skill development centers alongside, not just factories. Our local youth in Godhra taluka need training to qualify for these jobs. Government should tie up with ITIs and polytechnics for this.
