"Greenery is everything, son. Take a breath and plant a tree. - Jackie Shroff"

Mumbai, January 20

Actor Jackie Shroff advocated afforestation to protect the environment and reduce pollution nationwide.

In an interview with ANI, Jackie Shroff reflected on citizens' responsibilities towards nature, urging them to plant trees for the betterment of future generations.

"People are doing things that should not be done. We should replace what we destroy. It is for our future generations and children. It is not a big deal to plant a tree. If it is not there, then we will not be there," said Jackie Shroff.

The actor further highlighted that the development should not come at the cost of the environment. He explains that rising pollution and extreme heat are consequences of cutting trees.

"The way people keep crying that pollution is 260, 380 AQI, 280 AQI. Why is it increasing? First of all, you should make progress. It doesn't mean that you should regress. You should make a building. You should make a good building, but the dust from its construction requires trees to control it. That is why I try to explain to the children. At least, I try to make them understand. Greenery is everything, son. Take a breath and plant a tree," said Jackie Shroff.

Jackie Shroff has often advocated afforestation to his fans and is usually spotted wearing a plant locket around his neck.

On the work front, Jackie Shroff was recently seen in 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri', co-starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday.

'Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri' is presented by Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, and produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, and Kishor Arora.

In addition to Kartik and Ananya, the film also features Neena Gupta. The film opened in theatres on December 25, 2025.

Good message from Jackie dada. But celebrities should also talk about *where* to plant. Just planting on roadsides without care leads to saplings dying. Need proper planning and community adoption.

My colony in Delhi started a "one family, one tree" initiative last year. The difference in air quality in our lane is noticeable. It's a small step but it works.

Respectfully, while the sentiment is great, the focus needs to be on protecting existing forests first. The deforestation in the Western Ghats and the Himalayas is a crisis. Planting a sapling doesn't replace a 100-year-old tree.

He's absolutely right about development vs environment. Look at the AQI in our cities. We build malls and apartments but forget to leave space for green lungs. Future generations will pay the price.

Love that he's talking directly to children. If we instill this value in the next generation, real change is possible. My son's school has a gardening period every week - more schools should do this!
