Govt holds third preparatory meeting for BRICS Women Track
New Delhi, June 30
The government has convened the Third Preparatory Meeting of the BRICS Women Track under India's BRICS Chairship to prepare for the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting and the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting from July 6 to July 9, according to an official statement.
The virtual meeting held under the theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability' was chaired by Anil Malik, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development.
It focused on advancing discussions on the priority areas and key outcomes, including the Digital Repository of Best Practices and the BRICS Women's Capacity Building Guidelines, the statement from the Ministry of Women and Child Development said.
BRICS Member Countries shared their valuable inputs and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative and consensus-based outcomes.
Member countries congratulated India on its BRICS Chairship, appreciated the progress made under the Women Track and expressed their continued support for strengthening cooperation on women's empowerment.
The Chairman thanked all participating delegations for their constructive contributions and reiterated India's commitment to fostering practical partnerships that promote women-led development across BRICS nations.
The government earlier this week said that the BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry delegation met with Union MoS for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh to discuss strengthening industry‑led engagement across BRICS and BRICS Plus.
The delegation discussed stronger engagement through innovation, startups, emerging technologies, research collaboration and entrepreneurship, the statement from the Ministry of Science & Technology.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that India's growing stature as a global innovation hub and its leadership in emerging technologies provide an ideal opportunity for industry organisations to build stronger international partnerships that contribute to national growth and global development.
The representatives briefed the minister on the Chamber's initiatives over the past decade to promote trade facilitation, business-to-business engagement, women entrepreneurship, startup networking, artificial intelligence, research partnerships and sectoral cooperation among BRICS and BRICS Plus countries.

Nice to see BRICS focusing on women-led development, but hopefully these meetings lead to concrete results, not just paperwork. India needs more women in leadership roles across industries, not just in government reports.
As a woman in the tech sector, I'm excited about the emphasis on startups and emerging tech for women. Networking across BRICS could open doors for many Indian women entrepreneurs. Let's hope the capacity-building guidelines are practical and inclusive. 🌟
Impressive how India is steering BRICS dialogues on women's issues. The collaboration with Member Countries on best practices could really set a benchmark for the Global South. Would love to see how this translates into policy back home.
Another meeting, another statement. I appreciate the intent, but India's own record on women's safety and workforce participation needs improvement before we can lead globally. Hope this isn't just optics. 🙏
Great to see BRICS prioritizing women's empowerment through innovation and collaboration. The Digital Repository could be a game-changer for knowledge-sharing among member nations. India's chairmanship seems to be pushing meaningful agendas.
