Govt committed to increasing opportunities for youth: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad, May 23
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday stated that the Central government is actively working to accelerate recruitment processes across various sectors to provide employment opportunities to the youth, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directives.
"We are trying to actively accelerate the government recruitment process across various government sectors to provide employment to the youth as per the PM's directives. Rozgar Melas are organised every one to three months, where the Prime Minister virtually distributes recruitment letters," Reddy told ANI
The Minister further stated that the Union government is looking for ways to generate employment opportunities for the youth across various sectors of the economy.
"The government is committed to increasing opportunities for youth in startup companies, the private sector, and the government sector. These programs have been consistently held across India since 2022, aiming to provide employment to lakhs of people," he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the growing culture of self-employment and entrepreneurship in the country, noting the involvement of a large number of youth from tier-1 and tier-2 cities, and women.
Addressing the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela, PM Modi said that India has become the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. He affirmed that the change is visible in the country's tier-1 and tier-2 cities and not just the big cities.
"In the last few years, a new culture of self-employment and entrepreneurship has developed in the country. India is the 3rd-largest startup ecosystem in the world. There are over 2,30,000 recognised startups in the country... this change is not limited to big cities. These days, a large number of young people from tier-2 and tier-2 cities are also demonstrating their strength... The role of women's power is also continuously increasing in this change," he said.
He further asserted that India's youth are making a significant mark across every global field, noting that their vibrant spirit and dynamic energy must now be deeply integrated into the nation's public services.
"Today, India's youth are making their mark in every field of the world. This same spirit, this same energy should be reflected in public service as well. India will be developed through the efforts of such youth, who consider their work a means of serving the nation and the people... I am fully confident that the youth who received their appointment letters today will give new impetus to India's development journey," he said.

Finally, some action! As a young engineer from a tier-2 city, I've seen how startups are changing the game. The startup ecosystem is real – my cousin started a small tech firm and now employs 20 people. Kudos to PM Modi for pushing this culture. But we need more support for small businesses too. 🙏
I appreciate the intent, but let's be honest – the private sector is struggling. Many startups are laying off people, and government jobs are still the most sought after. The Rozgar Mela is a good PR move, but we need sustainable job creation in manufacturing and core sectors. Just my two cents. 🤔
As a woman working in a startup, I can confirm the opportunities are growing. More women are joining the workforce, and it's encouraging to see tier-2 cities becoming hubs. But we need better safety measures and flexible work policies for women to truly participate. Good steps, but more needed. 👩💻
Look, I'm all for development, but where are the jobs? My son has been preparing for government exams for three years. The Rozgar Mela distributes appointment letters, but many are for contractual posts. We need permanent, well-paying jobs. The startup hype is fine, but not everyone can be an entrepreneur. 😔
The startup ecosystem is truly amazing! I'm from a small town in UP, and now I work remotely for a Bangalore-based startup. The digital revolution is real. But the government should also focus on skill development centers in rural areas. Not everyone has access to training. 🚀
