From pharmacies to diagnostics, mini-Ratna HLL expands its operations
Thiruvananthapuram, June 15
In a significant expansion of its healthcare footprint, HLL Lifecare Limited, the mini-Ratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, has launched its new AMRIT Plus premium pharmacy chain, alongside new initiatives in diagnostics and home healthcare services.
The announcement marks a strategic deepening of the company's presence across the healthcare delivery ecosystem.
The launch was formally announced by HLL Chairperson and Managing Director Dr Anitha Thampi.
The new AMRIT Plus chain is positioned as a premium extension of HLL's widely trusted AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) network, aiming to combine affordability with an upgraded retail experience.
The outlets will offer a wide portfolio of prescription medicines, medical devices, wellness and nutritional products, personal care items, and lifestyle healthcare solutions.
In parallel, HLL also unveiled Specialty HINDLABS, an advanced diagnostics initiative that will focus on high-end testing services, including genomics, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and molecular diagnostics.
The company further expanded its service portfolio with the introduction of HLL Home Healthcare Services, which will provide at-home medical support such as skilled nursing care, post-operative assistance, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, elderly care, chronic disease management, diagnostics, and teleconsultation services.
On the quality assurance front, HLL announced that its HINDLABS Reference Laboratory in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, has received CAP (College of American Pathologists) accreditation, a globally recognised benchmark in laboratory medicine standards.
The company also highlighted a new public-private collaboration with the Odisha government for establishing and operating a Trauma Care Centre at Panikoili in the state's Jajpur district, which will be developed into a comprehensive emergency care facility with phased expansion plans.
Senior officials, including Director, Marketing, Ajit N., Director, Finance, P. Remesh, and Director, Technical & Operations, Benny Joseph, were present at the event.
Headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, HLL continues to expand its national footprint, positioning itself not only as a provider of affordable medicines but also as an integrated healthcare solutions enterprise spanning retail, diagnostics, and critical care infrastructure.

The CAP accreditation for HINDLABS is impressive. We desperately need reliable diagnostic chains with international standards. Hope they expand to tier-2 cities soon.
As someone who works in healthcare technology, this is a solid move. Integrating retail, diagnostics, and home care under one roof is the model we need. But will the 'mini-Ratna' status limit their agility?
Good initiative but they must ensure these premium outlets don't become too expensive for common people. The AMRIT brand was trusted precisely because it was affordable. Let's hope 'Plus' doesn't mean 'Pricey'.
The Odisha trauma care centre collaboration is exactly what rural India needs! Government hospitals can't do it alone, PPP model is the way forward. More states should follow this pattern. 🇮🇳
Impressive portfolio expansion. The home healthcare segment is smart - post-COVID, Indians are more open to at-home medical services. But they need to ensure proper training for nurses and staff.
