Phil Foden becomes the sixth Man City player to reach 100 goal involvements in the Premier League, with two assists in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

"Phil receives the ball in small spaces and creates something. The good players deliver; I am pleased for him. - Pep Guardiola"

Manchester, May 14

Manchester City striker Phil Foden became the sixth player from the club to register 100 or more goal involvements in Premier League history on Wednesday night.

Against Crystal Palace, during a 3-0 win, Foden provided two assists, taking his tally to 68 goals and 33 assists since joining the club in 2017.

Other players with 100 or more goal assists for Man City are: Sergio Aguero (184 goals and 47 assists, 231 goal involvements), Kevin De Bruyne (72 goals and 118 assists, 190 goal involvements), David Silva (60 goals and 93 assists, 153 goal involvements), Raheem Sterling (91 goals and 42 assists, 133 goal involvements) and Erling Haaland (107 goals and 23 assists, with 130 goal involvements), as per the club's official website.

With this win, Manchester City has closed the gap further with table toppers Arsenal, with 77 points to their name as compared to The Gunners' 79 points. Both sides have two more matches to go, and the next week could determine who gets the silverware.

If Mikel Arteta's side manages to win their remaining two games and they stay perfect till May 24, City will not be able to catch up with Arsenal's tally even if they win both their matches. The Pep Guardiola-managed side would be praying that their rivals fumble somewhere in their final two fixtures against Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Antoine Semenyo opened the goal tally for City in the 32nd minute, courtesy of an assist from Phil Foden, who produced a genius flick that found Semenyo, and the strike delivered a neat finish into the bottom corner of the goal.

Eight minutes later, it was Omar Marmoush who got another assist from Foden, as he latched onto a cross that Foden touched into his path, before swivelling and cleverly beating Dean Henderson to produce a fine finish.

After the second half, both teams made changes, aiming to manage the workload of key players ahead of marquee clashes with City set to play Chelsea in the FA Cup final in three days, and Palace will be playing in the UEFA Conference League final at the end of the month.

In the 84th minute, it was Rayan Cherki who gave a pass to Savinho, and he scored a late third goal.

Following the match, Guardiola expressed his happiness with Foden's performance, saying, as quoted by Sky Sports, "These types of games against a low block, they defend so well, you need quality, spark, talent. Something that is not in the tactical board, not in the meeting, not in the training."

"Phil receives the ball in small spaces and creates something. The good players deliver; I am pleased for him."

"This is a position he is not used to, as a holding midfielder. But I saw in the last game against Brentford that he was outstanding. He helped in that position. And then close the box, Phil is completely unique," he signed off.

Foden is amazing no doubt, but I think it's important to give credit to Pep's system too. Look at how many players from City have crossed the 100 mark - it's a testament to how they play as a team. That said, Foden's technique is just different level 🔥

Respect to Foden but let's not forget that Erling Haaland has 130 goal involvements in just two seasons! That's absolutely insane. And Aguero with 231 is just GOAT status. City's attacking talent over the years has been phenomenal. Very happy for Foden though - proper homegrown talent. 👏

Is anyone else worried that City's midfield looks a bit thin? Foden playing as a holding midfielder works for now, but against top sides it might be risky. Still, what a player he is! That flick for Semenyo's goal was pure class. India needs more players with that kind of vision. 🇮🇳

As an Arsenal fan, I'm nervous! City are breathing down our necks. But credit where it's due - Foden is a special talent. That assist for the second goal was inch-perfect. The title race is going down to the wire, and I think both teams will win their remaining games. It'll be a photo finish! 🤞😰

I wish Indian football had this kind of infrastructure and coaching. Look at how City develop players like Foden and Palmer (though he left). We need to improve our grassroots football. Also,
