Los Angeles, January 28

'Superman' fame Henry Cavill is all set to enthrall audience with his new role in the 'Highlander' reboot directed by 'John Wick' filmmaker Chad Stahelski. On Wednesday, Henry took to Instagram and shared his look from the film.

"Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I'll tell you all about when the time is right, but it's a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy.#Highlander," he captioned the post.

Cavill was first announced to star in the "Highlander" reboot back in 2021, and filming has finally started.

The first-look photos don't reveal much, but they are similar to the tone and look of Keanu Reeves' four action-packed "John Wick" movies, which were all directed by Stahelski, as per Variety.

In one photo, Cavill wields a hefty sword, and it appears it could be a globe-trotting epic based on the two different locations. Production was delayed late last year as Cavill was injured during prep for the film. The project also includes Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Zhang.

Michael Finch wrote the script, and Ryan J. Condal and Kerry Williamson had worked on earlier drafts of the film.

The original Highlander was such a cult classic. I hope this reboot respects the source material and isn't just another generic action flick. The cast looks stellar though – Russell Crowe and Karen Gillan are great additions. Fingers crossed!

Honestly, another Hollywood reboot? 🥱 Would love to see this level of budget and star power behind original Indian mythological epics like Mahabharata or Ashwatthama. We have stories that can blow Highlander out of the water.

The John Wick tone is a huge selling point for me. Stahelski knows how to choreograph insane action. Hope Cavill's injury has healed properly and doesn't affect the filming. Safety first!

The supporting cast is insane! Bautista, Hounsou, Crowe... it's like an Avengers-level team-up but for a sword-and-sorcery film. Hope the story is strong enough to hold all these giants together. Weekend plans sorted for whenever it releases.

As a fan of the original, I'm cautiously optimistic. The first look is promising, but the real test will be if they capture the philosophical depth and the "there can be only one" ethos, not just the flashy sword fights.
