Los Angeles, June 18

Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina head into their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group B clash at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, searching for their first victory after opening their respective campaigns with 1-1 draws.

Switzerland were held by Qatar despite producing the stronger performance, with Breel Embolo scoring before a late own goal denied Murat Yakin's side all three points. While the Swiss dominated large spells of the contest, their inability to convert chances proved costly, leaving them with work to do in a tightly contested group.

Bosnia & Herzegovina, making their first World Cup appearance since 2014, also began with a draw against Canada. Jovo Lukic found the net as Sergej Barbarez's side earned a valuable point, despite Canada creating enough opportunities to win comfortably.

With both teams already dropping points, Thursday's meeting has added significance in the race for a place in the knockout stages. Switzerland will look to control possession through Granit Xhaka, while the attacking threat of Embolo and the wing-backs could prove decisive if they are more clinical in front of goal.

Bosnia are expected to adopt a compact defensive approach and rely on counter-attacks. The sides have met only once, with Bosnia recording a 2-0 friendly victory in 2016, with goals from Edin Dzeko and Miralem Pjanic.

Honestly, I'm rooting for Bosnia! Their first World Cup since 2014 and they got a draw against Canada. Dzeko is a legend, remember that 2016 friendly? Of course we Indians love an underdog story. Plus that compact defense vs Swiss possession will be a good tactical battle. Kolasinac in defense - he's a tank!

I agree with the article that this is a must-win for both teams. Group B is tight after draws, and dropping more points could be fatal. Switzerland have quality in Xhaka and Embolo but their finishing is worrying. Bosnia will sit back and counter, that's how they got the draw against Canada. Should be a close one, maybe 1-1 again.

12:30 AM start... typical FIFA scheduling that ignores Asian fans. But I'll set my alarm, World Cup is World Cup. Switzerland's squad depth is impressive - Akanji, Zakaria, Embolo, Okafor all playing at top clubs. Bosnia rely too much on Dzeko who is past his prime. Swiss should win 2-0 if they take their chances.

Interesting match-up! I'm a bit disappointed the article didn't mention more about the Indian connection - some of these players have roots in South Asia? Anyway, Switzerland are technically superior but Bosnia have heart. I just hope we get good football, not a defensive snoozefest. Also appreciate the detailed squads and broadcast info - very helpful for us fans in India!
