Toronto, June 26

Senegal and Iraq will clash with each other in the final match of Group I in the FIFA World Cup 2026 at the BMO Field on Saturday.

Both sides are coming to the contest after suffering back-to-back defeats and are yet to open their account in the ongoing tournament. Their only hope of getting through is by finishing third, and in all likelihood, they will need a win to stand a chance of making it.

Senegal came pretty close to securing their first point against Norway, where they scored the late equalizer, but Norway's prime striker Haaland came back from behind and scored his second goal to help the team beat Senegal by 3-2.

Iraq's situation is worse. Graham Arnold's side were beaten 3-0 by France in Philadelphia, a result that followed their 4-1 opening-day loss to Norway, and they would look to improve their result in the upcoming match and give themselves a chance at securing the third position.

France have already secured top spot in Group I with six points, while Norway sits second. Eight of the twelve third-placed teams will advance to the Round of 32, meaning a win here could still be enough for one of these sides to progress, though goal difference will matter significantly.

Middle Eastern football is improving, but Iraq is really struggling here. Losing 4-1 to Norway and then getting thrashed by France? Not looking good for their World Cup dreams. At least look for a draw or something yaar.

Exciting match for neutral fans! Both teams have nothing to lose now. Expect a lot of goals. Sadio Mané could turn things around for Senegal if he decides to turn up tonight ? Indiara time is 12:30 AM IST, so I will have my coffee ready!

It's nice to see Zee5 telecasting FIFA matches, finally not having to run to random streams. But why does India not have proper football culture? We have crores of people but no real chance. Anyway, hoping for a good match between these two underdogs!

As an Indian football fan, I'm just happy FIFA match is accessible on TV now. Both Senegal and Iraq need this desperately - it's basically a knockout match even though it's group stage. Winner gets some hope; loser goes home. Gut feeling: Senegal 2-1 Iraq.

Interesting to see how Iraq fares. They have decent attacking players like Mohanad Ali, but their defense leaked 7 goals in 2 matches. Senegal on the other hand have quality, just unlucky. Expect Senegal to bounce back and get a much-needed win ?️
