FIFA WC: When and where to watch Cote d'Ivoire vs Ecuador, know all details
Philadelphia, June 14
Cote d'Ivoire and Ecuador will face off for the first time ever in this Group E showdown of the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Monday.
Ecuador are set to appear at their fifth FIFA World Cup and their second in a row, having featured at Qatar 2022 (2002, 2006, 2014, 2022 and 2026). They were exceptional in South American qualifying, finishing second behind Argentina in the standings.
Ecuador first graced the global showpiece in 2002. They have progressed beyond the group stage only once. At Germany 2006, they reached the Round of 16, where they kept England on the ropes for the full 90 minutes.
Cote d'Ivoire, meanwhile, are returning to World Cup action following a 12-year absence, and Les Elephants are set for a fourth campaign (2006, 2010, 2014, 2026) at the global showpiece after banking a direct ticket to the global spectacle by edging out Gabon in their qualification group. The Africans last graced the World Cup stage in 2014, when they headed home from South America feeling deeply frustrated.

Finally some African representation in the World Cup! Ivory Coast returning after 12 years - that's a long gap. Their squad has some exciting young talents like Amad Diallo and Simon Adingra. Hope they can progress beyond the group stage this time. But honestly, Ecuador's midfield with Caicedo and Franco looks very solid. Gonna be a tight match.
Ecuador have really stepped up their game. Their qualifying campaign was brilliant - that Enner Valencia might be the key man up front. But I'm a bit skeptical about Ivory Coast's defense without any world-class center-backs. Odilon Kossounou is ok but they'll need more. Still, World Cup mornings are always special. 😊☕
I hope Zee5 improves their streaming quality this time for the World Cup. Last tournament had buffering issues during peak matches. Anyway, this match should be interesting - two different footballing cultures. Ecuador's technical South American style vs Ivory Coast's physical African approach. My prediction: 1-1 draw. 🤞
Ivory Coast have some exciting young talents like Bazoumana Touré and Simon Adingra who can cause problems. But I feel their midfield lacks creativity compared to Ecuador's. Sangare is solid defensively but not a playmaker. Ecuador's Kendry Paez is one to watch - at just 18 years old, he could be a star. This is going to be a good test for both teams.
