Farah Khan recalls working with Anil Kapoor & Jackie Shroff in 'Kabhi Na Kabhi'
Mumbai, June 27
Choreographer and director Farah Khan recalled what it was like working with Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Pooja Bhatt in the 1998 action entertainer 'Kabhi Na Kabhi'.
Farah recently visited Ahmed Khan's house, who is also a choreographer turned director for her popular YouTube vlogs.
In the middle of a wholesome conversation, Farah shared a fun incident where she had to make Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Pooja Bhatt dance for one of the songs in the movie 'Kabhi Na Kabhi'.
The 'Om Shanti Om' maker revealed that during the shoot, one of the actors said that they could not dance while lip-syncing, while the other one declared that they were too tired to dance.
Farah added that while Anil Kapoor said that he could both lip-sync and dance, he eventually ended up doing neither of the two.
She was heard telling Ahmed and his better half, Shaira, in the vlog, "But there was a movie, 'Kabhi Na Kabhi', in which dancers were Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Pooja Bhatt. They were all together in the song. One said, "if I lip-sync, I can't dance". The other said, "I can't. I'm tired too". Anil Kapoor said, "I can do both" and he didn't do both."
Talking about 'Kabhi Na Kabhi', the project has been written and directed by Priyadarshan. With Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, and Pooja Bhatt as the lead, the film also saw Paresh Rawal, Tinu Anand, Aloknath, Rohini Hattangadi, Sukumari, and Mac Mohan as the ancillary cast.
Backed by R. Mohan under the banner of a Malayalam film production company, Shogun Films, 'Kabhi Na Kabhi' finally reached the audience on 17 April 1998.
The melodious tracks for the drama have been scored by Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman
The technical team further included Ravi K. Chandran as the cinematographer and N. Gopalakrishnan as the editor.

This is gold! I love how honest Farah is about the chaos behind making these films. Those three actors had such different energies, no wonder they couldn't coordinate! Anil Kapoor's confidence to claim he could do both is so him though. 🔥 Miss those days when songs were actually shot with real dancers and sets, not just CGI backgrounds.
As a kid who grew up watching these films, hearing these behind-the-scenes moments is like discovering a new layer of nostalgia. But honestly, I wish Farah would share more about the actual choreography process rather than just the star shenanigans. Jackie Shroff's 'tired' excuse sounds so on-brand for his laid-back persona though! 🤭
I moved to Mumbai from the UK recently and I am absolutely loving these Bollywood insider stories. The dynamics between actors and choreographers here are so different from what I'm used to. Anil Kapoor claiming he can do both and then doing nothing is peak Bollywood energy! 😅 It's refreshing to see such candid conversations on a YouTube vlog.
Priyadarshan directing Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff is such an underrated combo! 'Kabhi Na Kabhi' may not be a timeless classic, but the music by A.R. Rahman still hits different. Farah's stories are entertaining, but I hope she also acknowledges how much hard work goes into making even 'bad' dance sequences work. The behind-the-scenes chaos is half the charm!
