Eva Longoria says she has never watched 'Desperate Housewives'
Los Angeles, May 27
Hollywood actress Eva Longoria has shared that she hasn't seen her own iconic show. The actress has said that she never watched 'Desperate Housewives'.
She also revealed the surprising reason she couldn't take part in a reboot, reports 'Female First UK'.
The 51-year-old star shot to global fame portraying Gabrielle Solis in the ABC TV series from 2004 to 2012, which earned her two Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Golden Globe nomination, but, unlike millions of viewers, she hasn't ever seen her portrayal on screen.
Speaking on the Dinner's On Me podcast with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, she said, "Everybody's re-watching it. It was like number two the other day on the streaming. I keep getting like notifications like, 'Do you want to watch Housewives?' I go, 'No, I don't. I'm fine. I made it'".
Eva confirmed she didn't ever watch the show in "the first round" and hasn't watched it recently either. She starred opposite Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Nicollette Sheridan, James Denton, Ricardo Antonio Chavira, and Jesse Metcalfe in the hit series, which aired 180 episodes.
As per 'Female First UK', Eva is often asked about a revival, but insisted show creator Marc Cherry isn't interested in bringing Wisteria Lane back to life, because the characters were "fully" explored at the time.
She added, "The number one question is, 'You going to do a reboot? You going to do a reboot?' Because of all the reboots (out currently). But Marc never wants to. He's like, you know, this was a time where we did 24 episodes a year for a decade. There's none of this six-to eight bull*** you know? So Marc's like, 'We fully mined the characters'".
What's more, Eva admitted a revival would be tricky, because there is nobody left in the neighbourhood for Gabrielle to sleep with.
She said, "And I was like, 'I can't sleep with one more person on the street. Like, I literally have slept with everybody".
While a 'Desperate Housewives' reboot looks unlikely, Eva said in April she would be "the first to sign up" for a reunion.

That's actually refreshing! In India, we have actors who keep rewatching their old movies and talk about them endlessly. Eva is just like, "I made it, I'm done." Very practical and honest. Also, 180 episodes with 24 per season? That's some serious work 🙌
I've actually binge-watched the whole series recently, and it holds up so well! The writing was sharp, and the cast had incredible chemistry. But I get why she doesn't want to watch it - living it for 8 years must be enough. The comment about "no one left to sleep with" is hilarious 😂
I really appreciate how she respects Marc Cherry's decision not to reboot. In Bollywood, they keep milking every successful franchise until it's completely dead. Sometimes it's better to let a good show rest. Also, Gabrielle was such a iconic character - the glamour, the drama, the comedic timing! She set the bar high for Indian TV too.
Wait, she's 51?! 😲 I thought she was in her early 40s! She looks amazing. And honestly, not watching your own show is a power move. It shows she's moved on and doesn't live in the past. Much better than some Indian actors who keep referencing their old hits decades later.
I think it's a bit strange not to watch your own work though. How do you improve or appreciate what you've done? But she's successful and happy, so who am I to judge? Her comments about the "six to eight bull***" episodes resonate - Indian serials do
