Dua Lipa can't move into new London home till 2027
Los Angeles, June 28
It seems like English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa will have to wait till 2027 to shift into her new abode after her wedding.
The singer's dream is reported to be in London. The '.Dance The Night' singer, who recently tied the knot with actor Callum Turner, 36, in Italy, bought the spectacular property in 2020 and applied for planning permission for extensive renovations in 202, reports 'Female First UK'.
Dua, 30, is reportedly planning $3.9 million worth of upgrades to the home, including a huge basement complete with a swimming pool, music studio and cinema.
However, work is set to continue until July 2027, meaning Dua and new husband Callum won't be able to move in for some time.
Design expert Leigh Ann Raines told DailyMail.com, "She could be investing $3.9 million to make this a home that suits her needs. While expanding an existing home is always a lengthy process, excavation beneath an existing structure is much more involved than expanding out or up. In Dua's case, the construction team is following strict precaution not to disturb neighbours".
"They are employing manual methods and adapted tools to dig the basement, avoiding noise and vibration. This takes time. Rome was not built in a day. Any project involving structural changes takes time. I have led renovation projects that took over three years to complete. The number of decisions and collaboration required with all stakeholders and artisans is immense, down to the customised joinery built to display or store her belongings to lighting inside a drawer. No expense will be spared to ensure this will be a respite for Dua who works hard and needs a sanctuary to escape to during down time at home, or to be creative in the comfort of her home", they added.
As per 'Female First UK', Dua and Callum are renting a home nearby while the works are carried out. The couple recently enjoyed a lavish three-day wedding bash, starting with a cocktail party at Palermo's Palazzo Valguarnera Gangi.
On June 6, around 200 guests, including singer Charli xcx, 33, and record producer Mark Ronson, 50, gathered at Villa Valguarnera, an 18th-century estate, to watch Dua and Callum say "I do".
The pair exchanged vows under a gazebo before Sir Elton John, 79, serenaded the newlyweds.

I actually respect this! She could have just bought a ready-made mansion but she's taking time to build something personal. Plus she's being considerate about neighbours with manual digging methods. In India we need more celebrities like this who respect local communities. 🙏
$3.9 million for upgrades? In Mumbai you'd need at least double that for a decent reno on a Bandra apartment. And you'd still get constant power cuts and water problems. Dua should stick to London for value for money! 🇮🇳
Honestly, I'm glad she's taking her time. These old London properties need careful work. I've seen too many Indian NRIs rush renovations and end up with shoddy work. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither should Dua's dream home be. Smart move renting nearby too!
Planning a basement with pool, studio and cinema? Must be nice! Meanwhile my basement leaks every monsoon. But good for her - she's earned it. Just wish Indian celebrities would invest in heritage properties here too instead of only building gaudy farmhouses.
I think it's interesting how she bought the place in 2020 and is still waiting 7 years for renovation. Typical London planning rules! In India we'd have done a fast-track reno in 6 months with a few 'adjustments' to the building plan. But I admire her patience and following proper procedures.
