DPA Kandla crosses 50 MMT cargo mark 19 days ahead of previous year; fastest among major Indian ports
Kutch, July 16
Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, has once again scripted history by becoming the fastest among all Major Port Authorities in India to cross the 50 Million Metric Tons cargo handling mark during the current financial year 2026-27.
According to an official press note, on July 16, 2026, DPA achieved the prestigious milestone of crossing the 50 MMT cargo handling mark, accomplishing this feat 19 days ahead of the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Notably, during FY 2025-26, the Port crossed the 50 MMT mark on August 3, 2025.
This remarkable achievement reflects the sustained growth trajectory of the Port, driven by enhanced operational efficiency, world-class infrastructure, seamless logistics and stakeholder collaboration.
The milestone further reinforces DPA's position as India's No. 1 Major Port and highlights its continued contribution towards strengthening the maritime trade and logistics ecosystem.
On this occasion, Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman, DPA, congratulated all stakeholders, port users, exporters, importers, shipping lines, vessel agents, stevedores, Customs House Agents, terminal operators, trade associations, truck drivers, DPA officials, employees, Shramiks, and every member of the Port fraternity whose dedicated efforts and unwavering support have made this landmark achievement possible, a release added.

As someone from Gujarat, I'm proud but also think about the environmental impact. Such massive cargo handling near the Rann of Kutch ecologically sensitive area needs stronger green measures. Positive news for trade, but let's not ignore the cost to local environment. 🌍
Great numbers! But why always compare with previous year's performance? Should we also be tracking against global benchmarks like Singapore or Shanghai ports? Indian ports are improving but we have a long way to go in turnaround time and logistics efficiency. Just saying! 📊
Chandigarh-based exporter here - Kandla has always been our preferred port for agri-products heading to the Middle East and Africa. The continuous improvement in cargo handling shows the Modi government's Sagarmala project is working. Hope this momentum helps reduce logistics costs for small exporters like us. 🇮🇳
Being a truck driver who delivers to DPA regularly, this makes me feel proud. The new roads and parking areas have made a real difference for us drivers. Also good to see Chairman ji thanking the 'Shramiks' in the release - that's real respect for the workers who load/unload 24x7. Jai Kutch! 🚛✨
Unfortunately this achievement doesn't reflect the reality at customs clearance, which still takes days sometimes. Processing delays remain a hidden bottleneck. DPA's operations are world-class but let's not forget the administrative reforms still needed behind the cargo numbers. 🌟
