Mumbai, Aug 24

Actor Divyenndu Sharma will be reprising his iconic role as Munna Bhaiya in the movie version of the popular series 'Mirzapur'.

Reflecting on what makes his return as Munna Bhaiya in 'Mirzapur: The Movie' so special, Divyenndu shared that it is a big moment as an OTT series is being converted into a movie.

He added that he himself is extremely thrilled to witness Munna Bhaiya's transition to the big screen.

Divyenndu shared, "It's already an iconic moment in itself that an OTT series is becoming a big feature film, transitioning from our TV screens and mobile screens to the big screen. The first time around too, we were really lucky to witness this revolution, the whole OTT revolution, and now we're waiting with bated breath to see how audiences will react to this kind of transition."

"Coming back with Munna is like the cherry on top. I'm equally excited to see Munna on screen," he added.

'Mirzapur: The Movie' is expected to release in the theatres on 4 September this year.

Made under the direction of Gurmeet Singh, the movie has been jointly produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment.

'Mirzapur: The Movie' will retain the original cast from the series, including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Abhishek Banerjee, Shweta Tripathi, and Shriya Pilgaonkar.

Joining them in the world of crime will be some fresh faces, including Sonal Chouhan, Jitendra Kumar, and Ravi Kishan.

Meanwhile, as the team concluded the shoot for the eagerly awaited drama in February this year, actress Shweta Tripathi, who is seen as Golu in the popular series, dropped a photo of the clapperboard, accompanied by the text, "Mirzapur The Film Wrapped".

Shweta also posted a group picture featuring the entire cast and crew and penned, "It's a wrap Mirzapur The Movie."
