Mumbai, April 1

Television superstar Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya opened up about her first experience of interacting with her unborn child in her womb, further sharing how she managed to calm the baby's uncontrollable kicks in the womb by singing a poem and talking to it.

Recounting the moment in her vlog on her YouTube channel, the actress said, "I feel that I get a response from the baby now. A few days ago, I was very tired and went to sleep. I could suddenly feel the baby kicking from inside."

She added, "Suddenly, I started getting kicks at night, so I began speaking to it. I asked, 'What happened? Is there a right going on inside? Or are you skipping or jumping jacks?."

Talking about how she tried to soothe the baby, Divyanka said, "Then I said, 'Listen, do you want to hear a poem?' I sang a very nice poem that I remembered from my childhood singing class. After that, there was complete silence. The kicking, which had been going on for half an hour, completely stopped."

She further shared that the experience felt almost immediate and interactive. "I feel that the responses are being received instantly," she said.

Divyanka also spoke about maintaining an active routine during pregnancy. "I thought I would talk to my baby and my fans while walking on the terrace. Anyway, it's recommended that you walk for 30 to 45 minutes a day," she added in her vlog.

Divyanka, who is married to actor Vivek Dahiya, a few weeks ago announced her first pregnancy post 10 years of marriage.

Heartwarming to read. My wife did the same during her pregnancy - she would sing old Hindi film songs. The baby would always calm down. There's definitely a connection there that science is still catching up to.

While the story is sweet, I hope young couples don't take this as medical advice. If there's excessive movement or sudden stopping, please consult your doctor immediately. Better safe than sorry.

As an expat living in Mumbai, I find these cultural insights fascinating. In the West, we talk about playing Mozart, but here it's poems and lullabies from childhood. The emphasis on emotional bonding is lovely.

"Is there a fight going on inside?" 😂 That's such a typical Indian mom thing to say! My mother used to tell me I kicked so much she thought I was practicing cricket shots. Congrats to the couple!

Good to see her staying active with walks. Pregnancy is not an illness. Our older generation always emphasized staying mobile. Modern life makes us too sedentary. More power to her!
