'Discharge my duty with honesty and integrity': Shivraj Chouhan on appointment as BJP central observer for Bihar

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan appointed BJP observer for Bihar, pledges to discharge duty with honesty. Key role in government formation.

"I am a BJP worker. Whatever work is given to me... it is my duty to do it with full honesty and integrity. - Shivraj Singh Chouhan"

Raisen, April 12

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday, after being appointed as the Bharatiya Janata Party's central observer for the election of the Bihar Legislative Party leader, said that "I am a party worker" and expressed gratitude to the party leadership for reposing faith in him.

Speaking after the announcement, Union Minister Chouhan said that the BJP had considered him capable of handling the responsibility, for which he remains thankful.

He added that he would carry out the assigned task with complete honesty and commitment.

Union Minister Chouhan said, "I am a BJP worker. Whatever work is given to me as a party worker, it is my duty to do it with full honesty and integrity."

The BJP had earlier in the day appointed Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the central observer for overseeing the process of electing the party's leader in the Bihar Assembly, a crucial step towards government formation in the state.

Outlining his immediate schedule, Union Minister Chouhan said that he would leave for Bihar on April 14.

He noted that, as per party instructions, he would remain in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh until April 13, as it marks the last day of a local fair, 'Unnat Krishi Mela' in Raisen district, following which he would proceed to Bihar to take charge of his responsibilities.

The appointment comes at a time of heightened political activity in Bihar, where leadership decisions within the NDA are being closely watched.

The election of the BJP Legislature Party leader is expected to pave the way for the formation of a new government in Bihar.

Union Minister Chouhan's remarks underline his low-key approach to the assignment, even as political observers view his selection as a strategic move by the BJP leadership.

Known for his administrative experience and organisational skills, Chouhan, a veteran BJP leader, is expected to play a key role in ensuring a smooth and coordinated process for leadership selection in Bihar.

BJP sources indicate that the party's Legislative Party meeting could take place soon after April 14, once Union Minister Chouhan reaches Patna and begins consultations with party MLAs and senior leaders there.

With key developments expected in the coming days, Union Minister Chouhan's visit to Bihar is likely to be crucial in shaping the next phase of government formation in Bihar.

Interesting to see him prioritizing the local agriculture fair in his own constituency before leaving. Shows he's grounded and remembers his duties to his own people first. That's a quality often missing in politics.

His humble statement "I am a party worker" is refreshing. After being a CM for so long, he's not throwing any weight around. Hope this approach brings some stability to the Bihar situation. The NDA needs a smooth transition there.

With due respect to Chouhan ji's capabilities, I hope the focus remains on Bihar's development needs and not just on political maneuvering. The people of Bihar deserve a stable government that works on issues like jobs and infrastructure.

This is a clear signal from the central leadership. Sending a heavyweight like 'Mama' (as he's known in MP) shows they want no confusion or internal drama in Bihar. A sensible move to ensure everything goes as planned.

The timing is everything. He finishes his local commitment and then heads straight to Patna. Efficient scheduling. Let's see if his "honesty and integrity" can navigate the complex alliances in Bihar politics.
