'Dhurandhar' fame Danish Pandor opens up about his love for tennis as he joins professional training
Mumbai, June 10
Actor Danish Pandor has opened up about his growing passion for tennis.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, he shared how the sport has become an important part of his life. The actor also revealed that he has recently taken a significant step forward by beginning formal training at Kunal Thakur's tennis academy. Pandor also expressed his enthusiasm about the rising popularity of tennis in India.
The actor stated, "I am a big fan of tennis. I have recently started training with Kunal Thakur's academy. Kunal is a very close friend of mine, and we have worked together a lot. I am very happy to see the tennis craze in India. Especially the work done by TPL in the last 7 years. Kunal and Mrinal's work is commendable."
"It will continue to grow every year. I wish that more and more people get involved in this sport. Just like people get involved in football and cricket. I can see that many youngsters are getting influenced by this sport. It is a very good thing."
Professionally, Danish Pandor is set to appear in a special role in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film "Main Vaapas Aaunga." Speaking about performing in front of Imtiaz, Danish told IANS, "So, whenever I used to perform or any other actor used to perform, he was right there, standing in front of you and seeing you as if he's watching a play. And yeah, so that was a different feeling and an experience for me as well."
"Main Vaapas Aaunga" also features Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari Wagh, and Vedang Raina in important roles. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on June 12, 2026.

Lovely to see Indian actors getting into tennis! Danish is right - the sport is growing so much here. From Mahesh Bhupathi to Sania Mirza, we have legends, and now more youngsters are picking up the racquet. ATP tournaments in India would be amazing!
That's impressive dedication from a busy actor. Starting professional training at 30+ is no joke - takes real passion. Also keen to see 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' - Imtiaz Ali with Diljit Dosanjh? That's a combo made in heaven! 😍
Honestly, it's refreshing to see someone from Bollywood taking up a non-cricket sport seriously. Most just talk about it for PR. But Danish seems genuine - training with a friend, actually joining an academy. Hope more celebs follow suit! 🙌
Nice to see Indian entertainment personality promoting tennis. But also, I wish these interviews focused more on his upcoming film rather than just side hobbies. 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' sounds promising - Diljit + Imtiaz = solid. Hope Danish's role is substantial!
This is wonderful! Tennis is definitely having a moment in India - thanks to TPL and players like Sumit Nagal. Danish joining formal training is a great move. And a 2026 release for the film? That's patience! 😄 Looking forward to it.
