The second day of Shardiya Navaratri, dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, began with prayers, devotion and faith across the nation, as devotees flocked to temples to offer prayers to Goddess Durga and seek blessings.

On the second day of Navratri, devotees visited the renowned Jhandewalan Devi Temple in New Delhi and offered prayers to Maa Brahmacharini. Devotees waited patiently in long queues, hands joined, to catch a glimpse of the Goddess while temple workers applied 'tika' on their foreheads.

A priest in Jhandewalan temple said, " Today is the second day of Brahmacharini, in Ashin Maash, of Shukla Paksha."

"Brahmacharini means 'tapasyarini'. Maa Bhagwati did deep penance to attain Lord Shiva. 'Brahma' means 'tapa', which means to bear pain, to have patience. If we want to attain something, we have to bear with sacrifice, bear pain, and conquer it," he told IANS.

He added that "wishes of people who worship Maa Brahmacharini are fulfilled."

One of the devotees, Gitanjali, told IANS that she comes to the temple every year with her family.

"The experience was really good. This year too, despite the torrential rains and bad weather, we were able to come with Devi Maa's blessings," Gitanjali said.

Another devotee said, "We wait for Navratri the entire year to seek the blessings of Mata Rani. Arrangements at the Jhandewalan temple are very good. It's smooth and quick. There is no chaos at all."

In Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, devotees gathered at the Maa Brahmacharini Devi Durga Temple in long queues in the early hours of the second day of Navaratri.

One of the devotees, Munni, said that she has been visiting the temple for the last 25 years. "Everyone comes here with devotion and faith in the Goddess. May our faith in the Goddess prevail forever."

Another devotee, Renu, said, " We come when Devi maa calls us. We pray for both their blessings and love."

Shardiya Navratri 2026 Day 2 falls on Monday and is dedicated to Maa Brahmacharini, the second form of Goddess Durga.

After worshipping Maa Shailputri on the first day, devotees seek Maa Brahmacharini's blessings for patience, wisdom, self-discipline and spiritual growth.

The day is associated with devotion and perseverance, reminding people that determination and faith can help them overcome challenges.
