"Development plans can only progress in better security environment": CM Yogi after inaugurating 'Nausena Shaurya Vatika' in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 30

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday emphasised that development can only thrive in a strong security environment, recalling the lawlessness that plagued the state before 2017.

Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the 'Nausena Shaurya Vatika' here, CM Yogi said, "Development plans can only progress effectively in a better security environment. Remember, before 2017, this very Uttar Pradesh used to have curfews every day. Professional mafia and criminals had made life difficult. Just as our army protects the borders under all circumstances, it is also the duty of citizens to respect those soldiers."

He further highlighted the importance of strength in ensuring respect and peace, stating, "Only when we are strong on the security front will the world befriend us. If you are weak, no one bows down to the weak. Our Rishi tradition also says, 'Ahimsa paramo dharmah: Dharma himsa tathaiva cha' (Non-violence is the ultimate duty, but so is violence in the service and defence of Dharma (righteousness)"

"If someone is a threat to the country and society, then non-violence cannot work; violence is ultimately required against him. And these are our principles followed by the national army against the enemies of the country," CM Yogi further said.

CM Yogi further said that INS Gomati, which served the Indian Navy for many years protecting India's maritime borders, retired in 2022 and has now been placed on the banks of the Gomati River.

"INS Gomati, after serving the Indian Navy for a long time and protecting India's maritime borders, retired from the Navy in 2022. Today, after its retirement, it has been placed on the banks of the Gomati River. This is an opportunity to inspire the youth of the country and the state to learn about the Indian Navy. Our Navy operates with the motto 'Nabha Sparsham Deeptam'. Achieving this lofty goal requires a big vision," he said.

'Nabha Sparsham Deeptam' is the official motto of the Indian Air Force (IAF). It translates to "Touch the Sky with Glory".

"Remember, the Prime Minister told the countrymen that for a developed India, every citizen must join the five varnas. The most important of these five varnas is the feeling of respect we have for the army," CM Yogi added.

The Nausena Shaurya Vatika is a premier open-air naval museum and memorial park in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to the legacy and bravery of the Indian Navy.

I'm glad to see a push for naval awareness in a landlocked state like UP. The Gomati River connection makes it unique. But I hope the memorial also focuses on the human aspects of Navy life, not just military glory. Still, a thoughtful project overall.

Security is indeed the foundation of development. You cannot build roads or schools or hospitals when criminals roam free. Proud to see our state government prioritizing law and order while also honoring our armed forces. The Navy museum will surely motivate many youngsters. 🙏

Good sentiment about security, but I wish CM had also talked about the economic development that still lags in many parts of UP. Security is necessary but not sufficient. Still, the naval museum is a unique concept – now Lucknow has something to rival other cities' defense exhibits.

As someone from Lucknow, I'm thrilled about the Nausena Shaurya Vatika! Finally, our city gets a platform to showcase naval heritage. The INS Gomati display will be a great educational tool for school children. And yes, without law and order, development is just a dream. Well said, CM. ✨

Interesting to see a state government investing in a naval museum far from the coast. It shows how defense forces unify the nation. The quote from Rishi tradition about ahimsa and violence in defense is thought-provoking. India's approach to security has always been philosophical and practical.
