Delhi to witness cloudy skies, light rain today; heavier monsoon showers likely this week

Delhi is expected to witness a generally cloudy day on Sunday, with light rainfall likely at isolated places, as monsoon conditions continue across the national capital, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD's regional centre in New Delhi said Delhi was expected to witness a generally cloudy sky with very light to light rain. It said a spell of very light to light rain was likely at isolated places from the forenoon to the afternoon, followed by another spell of very light to light rain at isolated places during the night.
As of Sunday morning, Delhi was experiencing cloudy skies with a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. However, high humidity levels of 87 per cent made conditions feel significantly warmer, with the apparent temperature reaching 36 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has forecast a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius during the day, with scattered thunderstorms and light rain expected later. Monsoon activity is likely to intensify over the coming days, with forecasts indicating heavier rainfall and thunderstorms across the city through the week.
The prevailing weather is expected to provide intermittent relief from the heat, although elevated humidity is likely to keep conditions uncomfortable between rain spells.
Earlier on Saturday, the national capital recorded a marginal rise in daytime temperatures despite scattered trace rainfall in parts of the city, according to the IMD.
Delhi's primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, which was 0.6 degree above the seasonal normal and unchanged from the previous day. The minimum temperature settled at 27.9 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degree above normal and 0.7 degree lower than Friday's reading.
Among other weather monitoring stations, Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, marking an increase of 0.5 degree from the previous day. The station also registered a minimum temperature of 25.6 degrees Celsius, which was 0.2 degree lower than the previous day's minimum.

The humidity level of 87% is the real problem here. Even light rain won't help much. I had to run AC all day yesterday despite the cloudy weather. Hope the IMD is right about heavier showers this week - we need proper rainfall to recharge the groundwater.
