Delhi: NDMC's Suvidha Camp receives 80 public grievances

New Delhi, Aug 1

The New Delhi Municipal Council's Suvidha Camp organised on Saturday received 80 public grievances which were promptly taken up by 100 officials from different departments, an official said.

Most of the grievances related to the Personnel, Civil Engineering, Horticulture, Public Health, Enforcement, Commercial, Tax and Estate Departments, the official said in a statement.

He said that the camp reinforced the NDMC's commitment to transparent, responsive and citizen-centric governance.

The NDMC organised its monthly Suvidha Camp at the NDCC Convention Centre at Connaught Place's Jai Singh Road.

It served as an effective single-window platform for residents and service users to seek information, register grievances and interact directly with senior officials for speedy resolution of civic issues, the statement said.

Along with grievance registration, a large number of citizens also visited the camp to obtain guidance and information regarding various civic services and citizen welfare initiatives being implemented by NDMC, the statement added.

A highlight of the camp was the face-to-face interaction between citizens and departmental officers, enabling immediate understanding of public concerns and expediting the resolution process, it said.

Issues requiring policy-level consideration were also examined, and citizens were informed about the prescribed procedures and expected timelines for their disposal, the official said.

More than 100 officers and officials representing 30 departments participated in the Suvidha Camp, ensuring coordinated and time-bound grievance redressal.

The help desks were personally supervised by the respective Heads of Departments, reflecting NDMC's emphasis on accountability, transparency and efficient public service delivery.

As part of its ongoing digital governance initiatives, NDMC continues to strengthen its "Jan Suvidha Portal", a contactless online grievance redressal system that enables residents and service users to register complaints, monitor the status of their grievances in real time and submit feedback after resolution.

The Jan Suvidha Portal is a great move! Since the lockdown days, I've been using online portals for everything and it's so much better than standing in queues. Glad to see NDMC is also going digital. Hope they promote this more so that people don't need to physically visit camps, especially senior citizens. 👍

Nice initiative, but these are monthly camps. What happens in between? People in my area (Laxmi Nagar) have been complaining about water leakage and broken roads for weeks now. The NDMC needs to ensure that officials are just as responsive on regular days, not only when there's a camp with political photo opportunities.

This is what civic governance should look like - direct interaction with heads of departments, face-to-face resolution, accountability. In Bengaluru we can only dream of such efficiency 🥲 But seriously, kudos to NDMC for the single-window system. Let's hope they fix the issues before the monsoon hits harder!

The Suvidha Camp is good but why does it need to happen at a convention centre in Connaught Place? What about the residents in New Delhi's peripheral areas like Moti Bagh or RK Puram? They also have grievances. Also, 80 complaints seems low - is it only for the elite? NDMC should take this to more areas.

It's good to see the civil services working hard, but I'm still cautious about the "Jan Suvidha Portal". For a senior citizen or a daily-wage worker, it's not always
